The thermostat is located inside the water neck on the drivers side of the engine. You will see a large hose going to the top of the radiator and to the water neck.
You will need both the thermostat and gasket before you start, I would also recomment some RTV sealant, and two new hose clamps and about a half gallon of coolant mixture. Start by draining about one gallon of coolant from the radiator, via the valve located on the drivers side bottom of the radiator in to a bucket. Next remove the large Hose from the water neck and radiator. Next remove the two or three bolts that hold down the water neck, and gently pry it loose from the intake manifold. The thermostat may come out with it or may stay in the manifold. Remove the thermostat. Clean both the intake and water neck well, removing any old gasket material, oxidation or sealant. Next install the thermostat, some lock into the water neck by a quarter turn method, some you will find handy to RTV in with a small amount spread evenly around the edge between the thermostat and water neck recess for the thermostat. Be certain to orient the thermostat the correct way, the valve end goes away from the engine, and the small tower that retains the spring goes towards the engine. Install the new gasket with a small amount of RTV to hold it onto the water neck, then a small amount to seal between the gasket and manifold. Install the water neck with the original bolts, and tighten snugly, but don't over torgue them. Next replace the hose clamps and if the hose is in good shape, re-install it. If the hose is not in good shape replace it as well. Next put the coolant you drained in step one back into the radiator through it's fill neck. Use the spare coolant mixture to top off the system. With the Radiator cap removed, have an assistant start the engine, and run with the heater set to maximum heat, until the car is at normal opperating temperature. Have your assistant rev the engine and hold it at about 3000 RPM. This will cause the water pump to pull the maximum flow of coolant into the engine to purge any air bubbles that remain. Tap up the coolant and replace the cap. Fill the overflow bottle almost to the top of the bottle, this will allow the engine to pull any necessary coolant into the system as the engine cools down over the next couple of days. Keep an eye open for leaks and watch the temperature gauge over the next few days, any rapid spikes and drops in temperature while driving, indicate an air bubble. These cars are well known for air bubbles, and if you have one, you will have to go through the purge steps again until things normalize out, elsewise you could warp a head or crack a head.

Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove battery. Remove battery tray. Remove clip retaining contant control relay module and position module aside. Remove radiator cap. Raise vehicle front end as high as possible. Remove radiator splash shield. Drain radiator. Remove the radiator mounting bracket assembly. Remove lower radiator hose. Partially lower vehicle. Remove upper radiator hose. Remove radiator overflow hose. Remove upper A/C condenser core retaining bolts. Remove upper transmission oil cooler tube clips. Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube. Raise vehicle. Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube clips. Remove lower transmission oil cooler tube. Remove transmission oil cooler bracket and position transmission oil cooler aside. Remove lower A/C condenser core bolts and position A/C condenser core aside(be careful not to loosen the AC condenser lines. Remove radiator support bracket. Remove radiator out through the bottom of the vehicle.
Installation
Position radiator. Position radiator support bracket and tighten nuts. Position A/C condenser core and tighten lower A/C condenser core bolts. Position transmission oil cooler tube and install transmission oil cooler tube bracket. Install lower transmission oil cooler tube. Install lower transmission oil cooler tube clips. Install lower radiator hose. Install radiator mounting bracket assembly. Tighten bolts. Install radiator splash shield. Lower vehicle. Install upper tranmission oil cooler tube. Install upper transmission oil cooler tube clips. Install upper A/C condenser core retaining bolts. Tighten bolts. Install radiator overflow hose and tighten clamps securely. Install upper radiator hose. Position constant control relay module and clip securely. Install battery tray. Install battery. Connect battery ground cable. Fill and bleed cooling system. Start engine and inspect for leaks.

this is a simple repair many dont know. remove or pull off plastic pillar post cover, seatbelt probably twisted inside. twist it back around so it runs flat and lube slightly with a light lube spray on metal gearing. i had the same problem w mine pk

when u run the gas tank empty it severly overheats the electric fuel pump inside the gas tank, this tiny pump depends solely on the fuel flowing around and through it to lubricate and cool it so it won't overheat, you have seized up the fuel pump, u can let it cool for an hour and make sure the pump is totaly immersed in fuel before retrying that means u must put in at least 5 gallons of gas.

Head Restraints Removal

1. Unscrew front seat head rest guide rod retainers (610A18) .
   

1. Pull up on front seat back head restraint (611A08) . Compress foam in area of front seat head rest guide rod sleeves (610A16) .
   

1. Remove front seat back head restraint positioning springs. Pull front seat back head restraint up and out.
   

Installation

1. Slide front seat head rest guide rod retainers onto front seat back head restraint posts.
   

1. Compress foam in front seat head rest guide rod sleeve area. Install positioning springs on front seat head rest guide rod sleeves .
   

1. Insert front seat back head restraint posts (notches on posts facing rearward) into front seat head rest guide rod sleeves and push down to engage positioning spring.
   

1. NOTE: Front seat back head restraint must operate smoothly throughout its range of travel, must remain in any fixed position, and must not be freely removable from the seat back. If any of these conditions are not met, check for proper installation of positioning spring onto front seat head rest guide rod sleeve .
   
   Tighten front seat head rest guide rod retainers onto front seat head rest guide rod sleeves .
   

1. Adjust front seat back head restraint by applying hand pressure, either up or down, to center area of front seat back head restraint .
   

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - 3.0L OHV Engine

CAUTION Never open, service or drain the radiator or cooling system when hot; serious burns can occur from the steam and hot coolant. Also, when draining engine coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted to ethylene glycol antifreeze and could drink any that is left in an uncovered container or in puddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantities. Always drain coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or is several years old.

1. Drain the coolant until the level of the coolant is below the level of the thermostat.
2. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the water hose connection.
3. Unfasten the three water inlet connection retaining bolts and remove the water hose connection.
4. Remove the gasket and thermostat from the water hose connection. Discard the gasket.
   

To install:

1. Clean the water inlet connection mating surfaces.

The jiggle valve on the thermostat must be in the up position.

1. Place the thermostat in the water hose connection making sure the thermostat jiggle valve is facing up.
2. Install the new gasket and place the water hose connection assembly into position.
3. Install the water hose connection assembly retainers and tighten them to 89-124 inch lbs. (10-14 Nm).
4. Connect the upper radiator hose to the water hose connection.
5. Fill the engine with coolant, start the engine and check for leaks.
6. Stop the engine and top off the coolant recovery reservoir as necessary.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - 3.0L DOHC Engine

1. Drain the coolant until the level of the coolant is below the level of the thermostat.
2. Raise the vehicle and support it with jackstands.
3. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the water inlet connection.
4. Unfasten the two water inlet connection retaining bolts and remove the water inlet connection.
5. Remove the O-ring seal and thermostat from the water inlet connection. Inspect the O-ring for damage and replace as necessary.

To install:

1. Clean the water inlet connection mating surfaces.
2. Install the O-ring, thermostat and the water inlet connection. Refer to the accompanying illustration If you can't remember how the O-ring and thermostat are positioned.
3. Install the water inlet connection assembly retainers and tighten them to 71-106 inch lbs. (8-12 Nm).
4. Connect the lower radiator hose to the water inlet connection.
5. Fill the engine with coolant, start the engine and check for leaks.
6. Stop the engine and top off the coolant recovery reservoir as necessary.

Hi, welcome to FixYa! My name is Shaun. To answer your question, a thermostat is a very easy change. Follow your upper radiator hose into your motor. Where the hose joins the top of the block, you will see an elbow of sorts, held in place by a couple of bolts. This is your thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing and the old thermostat, and replace with the new thermostat, paying close attention to the orientation of the thermostat you removed. If installed backwards, the thermostat will not operate. With the new thermostat installed, apply a thin coat of blue RTV silicone sealant to each side of the new gasket, seat the gasket over the thermostat, and reinstall the thermostat housing. Replace ant lost coolant, and if nesessary, burp the system to release any trapped air to prevent overheating. That's it, you're done! The whole process should take less than 30 minutes. remove screw on panal around handle that opens car. remove 2 screws underneath handle that pulls door closed. check around door panal edge for screws and if so remove them. Now remove panal by prying slightly around edges or panal as to pull the clips loose. Dont bother if some break,they can be easly replaced and dont cost much at all. I always use a still putty knife to help pry panal off. This insures you dont crack panal while pulling on it. Once thjis is dont you will have access to the switch...Simply replace it and place panal back on and HEY !! you did it..... hope this helps and if so Please leave rating on this post and good luck..
