Hi i have a 1996 probe trans went bad so i put a

Your shifting module(netural park switch) on the trans has to line up with the mark or slot. Key on car off block wheels, put car in first and see where the module shifts and do the same for all the gears to see if they are lining up. All so check the shifting cable make sure its at the right length.

My ford probe 96 gt

Generally a tunup issue for a cylinder specific misfire points to either the spark plugs, The wires, the coil, or the injector.

Because you have a DIS coil setup I would suspect the plug or the injector as being the problem first. Inspect the plus and replace if they have over 50,000 on them. Inspect for a crack in the ceramic. Rotate it if it looks ok and if the misfire follows then you will know.

You could also rotate injectors but this is a bit more work.

Also sometimes you can get an intake gasket leak that is specific to a cylinder. In this case with the car idling you could carfully spray brake cleaner around the intake listening for RPM change.

I remove my fuel filter

There should be no rattle or anything loose on or in the filter. If you have a rattle or something loose inside the filter I recommend changing it.

My 96probe gt runs for awhile like about 25 miles

hi, the first thing you should get looked at would be the oxygen sensor as this can cause the problem your having if your car runs great when its first started from cold but then plays up when it reaches temp then this is a good sign that the oxygen sensor is faulty.

But their are other things that can cause the problem your having such as bad fuel or blocked fuel filter it could be a number of things the first thing you should do is give it a quick service change the plugs and air and fuel filter then give it another try.

You may need the injectors checking one good thing to try is go to your nearest petrol station or car spares shop and buy a fuel line cleaner these come as a fuel additive and you just pour it into the tank, make sure you buy correct type ie petrol not diesel then give your car a good run for at least 30min or more to give the cleaner chance to work its way around the whole fuel system and you may find just doing this will solve your problem.
A good brand to buy is called Red X this often solves the kind of problem your having, if it makes a difference to your car then change the fuel filter and use the additive every 3 months or so this then ensures your car is running at its best and it also improves mpg.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

The car shift in first and second gear but slip in

I have a 1989 Probe GT, 2.2L, 5spd, Turbo.

If its one thing I have learned about the Probes is that they are amazing cars until something needs fixing.

--Is the car an automatic or manual trans?
--What engine is in it (if you know)? If not what size is it
(ex. 2.2L, 4cyl / 3.0 V-6)

If its an automatic it could be a number of problems. If its manual the most likely causes are bent or broken shift linkage, or third gear is shot.

Is it only 3rd gear that it pops out of, or anything past second?
