Truck ran fine to work. when I came out it would not start. I tried using starting fluid but got nothing
I'm assuming this is a gasoline engine. If indeed you didn't have any results with the starting fluid then one would suspect that there is an ignition problem. Most Dodge gas engines of this vintage have individual coils for each spark plug. So...my guess is that you have a computer issue or a blown fuse. Are you getting a "check engine" light? If so, please retrieve the fault codes by turning the ignition on-off, on-off, on-off then on. The mileage display should provide one or more fault codes and then say "done". Write down the codes and relay them to me here. Also, check the under-hood fuse panel for any blown fuses and replace as needed.
Check engine light on when i step on gas hard truck jerks
engine lights refer to the engine AND the transmission faults. I would think that when you got the light there was a problem in the transmission ( probably the transmission control module TCM) and by stomping the gas you have a shift change problem causing the jerking.
