Given the age, it has either a carb or a throttle body. Either way that is where your problem lays. Get you hands on a Chiltons/Haynes repair manual that covers your vehicle. Trouble shooting section will lead you through possible causes and how to fix.

Refer to prior answer. The advise about the repair manual holds here as well. The answers are many and bounces around the various areas of the car. Fuel pump failure. Ignition module died. Some sensor here or there told engine to shut down (oil pressure sensors are notorious for doing this). The last few Dodge products my sister owned turned into money pits. She went back to tried and true 1988 Ramcharger with 318 V*.

My daddy always said look to cheapest and easiest fix first. It may well be a fuse. Best advise is to get a Chiltons/Haynes repair manual for you car (year, make and model) specific. There is a lot of answers in trouble shooting sections. Not to mention location and amperage of fuse.
Best of luck.

Check for battery power on the orange red wire coming into the the fan relay. If no power, replace fuse #27 in the integrated power module under the hood. See the wiring diagram below

At the risk of sounding silly, if all the function it is supposed to do work, then the switch is clearly working.

If something is not working, then you just need to follow some basic troubleshooting to see if there is electrical power going to the device that is not working.

To do this you need a wiring diagram and a multimeter. You use the multimeter to trace the power from the switch. if no power at switch, then the switch is faulty, otherwise it is a wiring fault or a device fault.

Unless you know what you are doing, this can get a bit tricky, so you are probably best to take your vehicle to an auto electrician and tell him what is wrong.

Sounds like the brake pads were wearing down. This causes the calipers to adjust more and more. Using a c-clamp, you can press the caliper back to its start position. The pressure has built up behind the caliper in the brake line.

What make, model, year, engine...

Also open the doors and look at end panels of dash for more fuse locations. Under hood wiggle all the solenoids in their sockets.

When a caliper smokes it's usually because the slider pins are corroded or somehow seized. The prevents the caliper from releasing pressure on the brake pads. So it's not about the piston, it's about the slide pins
