Yurn the engine over by hand until the 0 timing mark on the crank lines up with the pointer. Trace you #1 plug wire back to the cap, lift the cap and see where the rotor is pointing. If it's not at #1, or very close to it, you are right. #1 is the front plug on the driver's side. If it is lined up then you have another problem, likely related to overheating.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

Happened to me. You need an injector for the tbi. one is bad the other is working which means the motor is only getting half the fuel it needs. it will still run poorly on one injector but when you try to go uphill it will have no power. These are getting very hard to find took me a week to find one several states away. Good luck!

In my 84 model B250, it was on the fire wall. It was a box about 1/2 thick and about 2 X 3 inch rectangle. Mine was l;ocated about center stage top in the engine compartment.

The only practical way to check the ignition coil is to check for continuity across the two terminals of the low voltage side of the coil. New coils run between $15 and $30. Don't forget to check the ignition control module too. Auto parts stores used to be able to test them for free, but I am not sure they still do.

You have a hall effect pick up coil, it is in the distributor, under the rotor-it has a 4 wire harness that comes out of the cap and plugs into a harness-the pick up coil just lifts out, easy fix.

Hi, 1st , of course, check for a blown fuse for your instrument panel.
If your gas gauge is reading empty then it could be that the float in the gas tank has a leak and doesn't float anymore. It has sunk. This will cause a working gauge to show empty all of the time. The float that goes into the gas tank is about 1.5 inches long by about an inch wide. It should be a hollow brass cylinder.
this cylinder attaches to a swinging arm that when it moves in the tank, it shows a different resistance depending on where the float is. In other words the height of the float connected to the arm shows the different reading. Note: if you are going to replace the float, or the fuel tank sending unit, make sure the gasoline tank is as empty as possible.
Photo below of what a float looks like (this is probably not the exact one). You may only be able to purchase a complete "fuel sending unit", which includes the float. Probably the best way to get one is from a junk yard.

Sounds like your fuseable link to the starter from the ignition burnt out. You can replace it very easily. Its located either near the starter itself an will be the odd looking wire sometimes with a fat spot on it or it will be at the sfirewall closest to the fuse box under the hood. Have you checked the fuse panel under the dash for any burnt fuses? I'd start there.
