1998 Dodge Ram will not start -

My 1998 Dodge Ram will not start - the key turns over but it won't fire - if you shoot it with ether it will temporarily fire but then will die. I put a new fuel pump on it and it still won't start - the fuel pump does not seem to be priming either, so I don't think there is power there. Also - the codes say there is something wrong with the ASD relay. Thanks.

1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Rear End problems

This is the second rear differential (used) I've had on my truck and the second time the same symptoms have arisen: vibrating/humming noise coming from the rear end. I have heard that this is a common problem with this vintage of Dodge truck. My question is, does it make sense both tangibly and economically to have the current rear end "re-built" or should I just throw another used (and possibly damaged) rear end on there. The mechanic found shavings and part of a "pin" inside the cover. Thanks for any help you can provide

Hello, well you can look at it in a few different ways. Like you stated you can get a rear end from a salvage yard and not know what you are getting, you can spend some big bucks to get a new rear end, or you can get it rebuilt. I feel getting it rebuilt will be the better option. If you get it rebuilt you will have new parts in the rear end and know what you have verses the cost of a new rear end. This of course depends on how much damage there is in the rearend. Economically I feel that having it rebuilt is the best option. I always get nervouse when putting in any used part because you don't know what you are getting. If you do get it rebuilt make sure they put in new bearings which any reputible shop should anyways.

An EGR valve assembly located at the front of the intake manifold. The EGR valve is a poppet style valve (on/off only) and is controlled by an internal diaphragm.

location of flasher relay on dodge ram 1500 pick

location of flasher relay on dodge ram 1500 pick up 5.9 engine. My brake lights went out and then the signal lights. replaced the fuse for the brake lights and got them working but the flasher fuse was good and can not find the relay to try to replace

The location of the flasher relay on a 1998 Dodge Truck is in the fuse panel which is located on the left side of the dash. It is accessable when the door is open. All you need to do is pull off the panel cover to expose the fuses, and the diagram on the fuse cover will show you which one is the falsh relay. The one on my truck is blue, and is about one inch square.

Hope that helps.

Starter Relay is located in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) next to the Battery, under the hood. It should be labeled. On the PDC as to which relay is for what circuit. It should be one of the 5 larger relays laied out in a backwards L closest to the battery side. 1 down from the top of the backwards L. is the best description I can give you
