Starting with key will not ingage the starter

Sounds like your ignition (mechanical) key assembly is bad. Key should turn freely through the full cycle. Off, on, run and start. Your vehicle should have 2 ignition switches, I.e., mechanical and electronic. Sounds like you either have a bad mechanical switch or perhaps even a problem with the steering column itself.

92 vw passat 2.0 16v wont start.

I bet it's the gas. After some time the gas will no longer be volatile enough to start the car. Try draining all the fuel and putting in some fresh gas. Remember, when you try to start it again you'll need to get the new gas through the pump and lines before it will start. Also, check the condition of the injectors. Old gas can start to break down and build up a film that could be on your injectors (or clog your fuel filter- better check that too). Hope this helps.

I have a 92 passat GL that chuggs, jolts, then

If the distributor cap falls down onto the rotor button then you have the wrong distributor cap and it is too big for your distributor. Run fault codes to check for accelerator position sensor fault and check MAP/MAF sensors.

Starts up raght shuts off raght

Starts raght up, shuts raght off. Ri-i-i-ght? I don't want to be a stewie griffin and cast aspersions, but please clean up your grammar, over. This could be a fuel or an ignition problem. There are other possibilities too, but first check fuel and ignition. Have the fuel pressure tested for the fuel problem. If pressure is correct for your car, then the ignition system or circuit would need looked at. Sometimes a malfunctioning sensor the computer needs for spark control and timing will cause the computer to shut down the engine. A mechanic or tech would have to run some testing. You could check if your air filter is completely clogged with dirt or trash-that will starve an engine and kill it. When was your gas filter last changed?Have you seen the classic skit between Stewie and Brian, with stewie playing electrician, talking to Brian over a walkie-talkie, and driving Brian nuts about using the word over after every transmission on their talkers? It is hilarious! Reminds one of the old Abbot and Costello "Who's on Third?" routine. Well, good luck, Ty, over.

Where does the power steering fluid go in a 1992

Should be just behind and to the right of the radiator (on your right hand side as you're looking into the engine compartment). It might have a plastic cover surrounding it.

The reservoir looks like this. The cap is usually green but is sometimes black.

Idiot light and buzzer for oil coming on at low

It might be the sender unit or you are using an oil grade that is too thin and the oil pressure is down a bit. However, the oil pressure switch is located on the engine block above the sump level and looks a bit like a small spark plug with black insulation. It has one wire coming from it with a press on connector. Replace it and if you have the same problem the next in line would be:-
Oil change and filter (20W-50)
Leaking oil pressure relief valve
Worn oil pump
Worn valve train components
Worn bearings

Radio code for 1992 passat Vin WVWFE4314NE357947

Only available through your VW dealer with your VIN.

You need to see them with your car title as proof of ownership.

These codes are not available on-line or anywhere else for obvious reasons.

If the code they give you does not work, pull the radio and give them the serial number.

FYI .NEVER post your VIN on a public forum. Same reason you wouldn't post your SS #.

I'd get the front end alignment checked, and get a compression check done on the motor, go through all serviceable fluids (changed out), check or any rust. For the hard starting ... check the battery. It should give out a little over ~13.2V without load. Also, take some sandpaper, and rub the terminals down bright and shiny, and then rub down the connectors until they are pretty shiny, too. That should help get some more juice.
