Check the U Joints. My wifes xterra had 80K miles on it, same symptoms. Was a bad from u joint. Nissan mechanics and 1 tire shop could not figure it out.

Yes timing can do that if it was an older vehicle but it's probably the egr valve or cats are stopped up

Might be a valve problem. Disconnect the battery to reset the computer for about 5 min. Reconnect the battery cable and see if there is any difference. Sounds like 'fuel-rich' mixture causing BLACK smoke.

have you inspected the cables or the linkage. if your linkage is worn or out of adjustment the truck might not start in the right gear p or n. and you would have to wiggle the shifter to get the right gear.

It is the idle air control motor. Everyone says replace it. High dollar part. I say take it off the throttle body. Clean it. It can be tedious. Get the black junk/ carbon off of it. Vein type, barrel type or piston type. Do what you have to do to clean it. Tooth pick, tooth brush, wire brush. I have used them all. to include paper clips. One in maybe 200 go bad. All of them need cleaned first... Why spend $200 for a part when it can be cleaned with a $4 can of brake clean and a tooth pick.?

On the radiadiator support bracket near the hood latch.

Have him inspect each bulb for the tail and brake lights as well as the front amber light bulb filaments inside the bulb. There are two in each bulb. If any one of them touches the other then you'll get a back feed that will cause the flashers to start working when they aren't supposed to.

sounds like a vacuam line or trans linkage is off

You need to reset the fuel inertia switch. I think it's in the back inside the rear hatch.

Hey Travis here is the compleat definition of code P0340= NO CAM SIGNAL AT PCM , NO FUEL SYNC. YOU CAN TRY THE AUTOZONE LIBRARY FOR MORE INFO. there is more to it than sensor not being there. check the power control moudel.
