Does 88 omni have a cold sensor

There is a throttle body temperature sensor, 2 wire. There is a 4 wire idle control motor. Check both of them. There is also a throttle position sensor with I think 3 wires. If first two don't help, check the TPS. Check and clean out the air passages that the idle control motor attaches to and controls.

Vacuum hoses diagram

You will probably need to look at a repair manual for your Omni to find a vacuum diagram. Parts stores would sell them, public libraries might have them. If you have throttle body injection, the vacuum hoses are much simpler and fewer than if you had a carburetor with all those emission requirements for those years. I have an '87 Sentra, carbureted. Miles and miles of vacuum hoses !

Check the positive battery cable. Heat is a sign of a poor connection. If badly corroded, take off and clean it, also check other end where cable connects to starter. You may need a new cable.

Engine not working

Well it is one of a few things that can cause it to not start. some diagnostic test can be done right off the bat. does it have gas? is the battery charged? now its a good idear to take out the spark plugs because if its not running she probably has fowled dirty plugs, there anywhere from $2 to $3 each. after you change the plugs does the car crank faster thebn usual when starting. a few dollars more buy a new fuel filter located on the passenger side of the car under the car usually in front of the fuel tank located under the rear passenger seat right side. and check for a spark on the spark plugs when trying to crank the engine. if theres spark Then your very likely to need a fuel pump replacement! the pump is about $59 the pump can be taken out of the sending unit and replaced or for $ 198 you can buy the whole sending unit and pump. The fuel pump is located in the gas tank on top.. anyone handy can do this some people need a good shop amnual. the difference between the shop manual and repair manual is about $20 to $30 more but the shop manual has every little detail on your car. step by step and all the parts and little details and hint needed for a n easier and more accurate repair . hope this helps good luck

Head lights went out

Check the fuses! The fuse must be in the main fuse box. The position and function of the fuses is normally marked on the inside of the fuse box cover and also in the owner's handbook. If you don't come right with these, work your way through the fuses looking for a blown one.

Car will not start

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action I strongly suggest that you swap the battery. If the battery is weak there won't be enough power to the starter to kick the flywheel. Replacing the battery can be a big help.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

88dodge will crank and run

I have seen this problem before and I want to ask you to try one thing. Tweek your idle up just a hair. It is very common in the older models that the idle wears out and what I mean be that is the jets gets a little clogged. If you have done all the above as the pump and the filter and the hoses, then this has to work. And yes there is an adjustment for fuel injected cars. Follow the accelerator cable to your engine and you should see this adjustment. I hope this is all you need instead of a costly repair shop and remember this is just a suggestion and thanks for using FixYa.

Engine will start but shuts

I worked on a chevy that did this and it was the ignition switch. As soon as I let off the key it would die. I went threw the security, ecm, bcm, and most of the wiring before I realized what it was doing.
