I would check and replace the fuel pump

Try checking all vacuum lines for broken or leaks. Sounds like a vacuum problem/leak to me. Possibly intake manifold leak at gasket.

There is a starter solenoid between the battery and the starter. Check that to see if it has gone bad. It will not set a light. you can jumper from the power lead to the starter post to see if it engages. Be sure you are in neutral if this is a standard shift because you will be bypassing the neutral switch. The solenoid is on the firewall or well well depending on your options configuration.

It's mounted in the engine block under the injection pump on the driver side of the engine. It's right up against the power steering pump, above a motor mount.

check first in the workshop manual if it is a one piece seal or two piece seal. If it is a one piece seal then the gear box and flywheel have to come off. If it is two piece then the gear box has to come out and the sump has to come off so that the rear main bearing can be removed.

try changing the coil- sometimes they get hot and break down- once they cool off vehicle will start and run until they get hot again

Believe it or not the most likely cause is a weak battery or batterys, and/or dirty battery cables. It causes electrical noise in electrical system which affects the computer. Test each battery indepentantly and clean all of the battery cables and grounds and see if that helps.

My 1992 Cummins W250 auto trans turned out to be the Computer/ECM mounted on front fender by battery tray. Mine only acted up in cold wheather. It started out with the ASD (auto shut down relay) clicking rapidly. In addition the water in fuel, wait to start and check engine light also blinked fast. In this state, the battery would not charge.

I would check for power at the flasher, then the hazard switch.Could be a problem with the turn signal switch.
