1986 Dodge Aries 4 Door Questions & Answers
I have a 86' Dodge
its sounds like a duff battery, have you tried jump starting it from another battery etc. if you can turn engine by hand a full rotation then not its not seized. . the starter motor could of gone but you would of had problems with it before hand. to me it just sounds like a bad battery. batteries can just go, volts may look good but its the amps that are need to turn the engine over. no amps then it would struggle to even move the motor.
1986 dodge aries starts and dies after 2 minutes
My Chilton book doesn't have a lot on vehicle specific emission controls. What I did find is this. Apparently the "loss if power light" will turn on if the temp sensor wire has been removed and then reattached. Have you recently done work at the thermostat? The temp sensor is mounted on the thermostat housing. To turn the "loss of power light" off, disconnect the positive battery terminal and then re-attach it. No waiting. Start the engine and then shut it off. After that turn the key ON and OFF several times to clear any fault codes in the computer. This may help because stored codes make the computer think the problem still exists and it reacts accordingly. Hope this helps.
Brake lights dont work have
use a test light and check all the fuses to make sure there are no other burnt fuses(the key should be on and some circuits need to be turned on).it could also be a bad brake light switch which is located at the base of the brake pedal arm that the pedal moves when applying the brakes, its a 2 wire switch, there should be power on one wire all the time and on the other wire it should only have power when the brake pedal is pushed.
1986 dodge aries map sensor
The map sensor is located in the front seating area, passenger side, under dash, behind lower kick panel, mounted on top side of logic module. Dodge can never make anything simple. I hope this helps and good luck.
I just purchased a 1986
check the plug for moisture on the throttlebody, blow it out with compressed air and make sure it is dry. plug in and try. On GM cars it says reduced engine speed
I need to know which way does the thermostat go
The thermostat should have a little tiny arrow stamped on it somewhere to indicate which way the coolant flows. But to help out, the plug shaped part of the stat usually faces the engine block, where it is subjected to the coolant flow, as this plug is heated, the wax inside expands opening the stat up to allow coolant to flow through the hose(s).
Why does the battery not charge?
One or more of the following:
1. The battery is old and worn out
2. The alternator is bad
3. The battery cables are loose or worn out.
