2000 Dodge Intrepid Transmission slow to engage
Only check the level when it has been driven and warm. And while it is still running. Now, for the slow engagement, It may be draining fluid back into the pan, from the torque converter. Let it idle a little while before trying to drive it. That will fill the torque converter back up, and will drive right away. Takes about 2 minutes of idle time to fill the torque converter. Now, drive it and then, while it is still running, in park, check the fluid level in the transmission. It very likely could be low and could also be the slow engagement cause.

I was told that i might have a blown head gasket.
plugs in modern engine last the life of the motor
you will not get smoke from a rear main as it will be a full on oil leak as for the head gasket comment
take it to an accredited service center and have a compression test done
from your statement , It would appear that you are not getting the correct advice

Over heating 2000 Dogde Intrepid 3.2L
Hey Ninja,,, a bad thermostat will not cause the belt to break,,. BUT a locked up A/C compressor will, anything that is locked up or not freely working will cause the belt to break.. MAYBE the water pump is locked up and you are forcing it to try to turn.. this will give you the symptoms you describe..

Took 2000 dodge intrepid 3.2 engine to shop. NO
the fact that after you changed the part from the junk yard it blew warm air indicates that the heater core is not the problem
could be the heater control is not fully opening or the junk yard replacement part is faulty

I just got my oil changed at monre muffler, ran good for about 15 minutes next thing you know it sounds like my motor is going to blow why
Hi Joann, sounds like they didn't get your oil filter tight enough or it's loose,First check the oil level,no telling if they put the correct amount in,what you need to do,or have someone,is to remove the oil filter, make sure you have a container to catch the oil, then get a rag and wipe clean, and get a rag and wipe the engine area too, probably a mess, then get some oil and wipe on rubber gasket on oil filter and hand tighten, then tighten 2/3"s of a turn, top off oil till it reads full, then start and let run for 10 minutes at idle, then turn off and check oil filter for leaks and check the dip stick and stay away from that place,or call them and tell them what has happened and they need to send someone out to fix,Also by the oil filter is yhe oil pressure switch, they could have knocked the wires off.

R/T. overheated. Why is white smoke coming from the tailpipe?
might be steam coming out tail pipe. If steam you may have a blown head gasket which could put water into the cylinder that gets turned into steam and put out tail pipe.
If compression is getting into cooling system via blown head gasket then pressure builds in cooling system. A radiator repair place may be able to pressure test via the radiator cap to see if this is occurring while the engine is running.
If you have an alloy head you may also have cracked the head
A warped head is another possible problem .
This is expensive to fix as the engine head has to be sent to a head repair place to be fixed.
A compression test on your cylinders may give a diagnosis on if there is a head gasket problem .
The warps or cracked head can only be found out when the mechanic checks the head after pulling the top of the engine apart.
