Did you check for voltage at the solenoid with the key held in crank position? That is the only time the small wire to the solenoid should have power. It sounds like power is not getting there from the ignition switch. It could be a bad park/neutral safety switch on the transmission. Hold the key in start and check for power at the switch connector. One wire should be hot. If it is check for continuity (with the ohmmeter) of the switch when in park. The switch should have continuity in park or neutral, and no continuity in any other gear position.Good luck.
Why my van will start but want stay running
if it stays running with foot on pedal thencheck vacuum lines. most likely pcv valve hose. if its throttlebody it shld be the lower large hose in bottom middle of throttlebody base. if not that, could be fuel pump, or possibly distributor, control module. (need more detail if not vacuum line problem)
I have a 1990 g30 cutaway/box van with a 454 &
the trans is building pressure in it (obviously). Check to make sure the vent is not plugged, it's on top of the trans, should have a small rubber hose coming off of it and laying off to the side(some guys through that away when they are removing it, that's why it said should). If it's not plugged or blocked I would suspect the front pump seal is going bad and pushing pump pressure into the case and it is fallowing the path of least resistance and coming out of the dip stick.
My van will not start and run. It has been
if it was sitting for a couple of years with fuel in it gas as it evaporates leaves a lacquer type film over everything from gas cap ,tank ,filter, lines, pump carb/throttle body alone most likely needs rebuildall these has to be cleaned or solvent run thru
Alternator not chargeing
First of all.. Check to see if ya have 12 volts going to the back of the alt. If so.. call your parts house and see if it has an external voltage regulator. If so, try a regulator..That was a tricky year when they had either internal and external voltage regulators. otherwise.. get a new alternator. sometimes, the volt gauge will cause a non-charge issue. You can straight wire the gauge to eliminate that.
