Wiring an hei distributor

You shouldn't need a spark box because thee coil is located in the dist. cap. You need to run a 12v switched power source to the side of the dist. cap that is marked dist. if it isn't maked it is the term. that is on the front right of the conector pad. the one on the left is for hooking up a tach.

You can tell if your water pump is running backwards by the way the radiator fan is running. If the ran is pulling air from the radiator then the water pump is running the right way, if it's pushing air toward the radiator then your water pump is running the wrong way too. There should be a sticker on the fan shroud or on the hood to the direction the serpentine belt should run. IF the water pump is running the right direction, then it needs to be replaced. Good luck and hope this helps.

Im replacing a tumbler on my '85 silverado i got the steering wheel off but how do i remove all the other junk to get to the tumbler?

You need to remove the small metal ring that retains the lock mechanism, then remove the turn signal switch (3 bolts, move it up or down to access 2 of them). You will then see a torx bolt that retains your tumbler.
