Hello there sboris86,
Changing the switch is easy. Getting to it is a bit involved.
You'll need some specialized tools.
- A steering wheel puller
- Lock plate compressor
- Torx drivers
- Metric sockets
- Breaker bar
- Marker or paint pen
- Patience
To keep this reasonably sized, I'm going to assume an above average familiarity with the tools and components. If you want clarification on something, just ask.
BTW, this took a while, I expect a 'FixYa' rating for all this. Sound fair? OK.
Heres the procedure:
- Disconnect the negative battery cable
- Remove the steering wheel shroud ( 7mm socket).
- Remove horn contact (watch the spring, don't lose it)
- Spread and remove the retaining clip.
- Use the breaker bar to remove the nut.
- Mark the wheel and column for reassembly
- Break out the steering wheel puller and pull the wheel
- GENTLY pry the plastic shaft lock cover off the column
- Screw the lock plate compression tool on to the column and press the lock plate down
- Remove the retaining ring. Use whatever tool works for you on this one. Once removed, release the lock plate and remove it.
- Unscrew and remove the the hazard knob.
- Still with me? Good we're almost halfway there. Just kidding
- Remove the turn signal lever.
- Remove the canceling cam and turn switch assembly (three screws). Let it hang.
- Your there. Remove the cylinder retaining screw (2 o'clock position inside the column).
- Turn the key to the ON position and pull it out.
Reverse this procedure for reassembly. If you need additional info or have other questions, just click the ASK button.
