1985 k5 blazer charging problem. Battery and
Check the Voltage regulator and on some older vehicles there is a ceramic block looking device, usually mounted on the firewall, that may have gone bad. I had this happen in a Plymouth once. I went through weeks of tracing till a mechanic finally told me to look at that and it turned out to be the problem. I have no idea what it does or why but it was a pain.
Where is the fuel pump located?
If you have the 2.5L 4 cylinder Throttle body fuel injected engine then the fuel pump is located inside of the fuel tank. If you have the 2.8L V6 carbureted engine then the pump is located on the side of the engine [just follow the fuel line back from the carburetor and you'll find it]
Firing order for 1985 s-10, 6 cyl.
1985 S-10 came with two engine's,
This one is for a 4.3L engine V-6.
And this one is for a 4.8L engine in-line 6 cylinder, hope one of these's help you.
Need firing order on distributor?
The 85 V6 has a firing order of, No. one being at 5 o-clock in the dist, and the order is, 1,2,3,4,5,6. Odd on the right, even on the left. Hope this helps.
1985 Chevy Blazer 4x4 2.8L V6 - engine wont start.
You should see gas squirt in the carb with the movement of the linkage....if not, bad fuel pump.
2.8L Engine
The fuel pump is located on the front left side of the engine.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Disconnect the fuel hoses from the pump. If necessary, tag the lines to assure proper installation.

Remove the fuel pump-to-engine bolts and remove the fuel pump from the engine, then remove and discard the old gasket.
To install:
Before installing the fuel pump, it may be helpful to rotate the crankshaft so that the cam lobe is on the down stroke.

Use a new gasket and RTV sealant, then install the pump to the engine.

Tighten the fuel pump-to-engine bolts to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).

Connect the fuel hoses to the pump, as noted during removal.

Connect the negative battery cable, then start the engine and check for proper pump operation.
I got an 85 S-10 blazer and i changed the starter
Take the starter back and tell them it is a piece of junk. I just went through the same thing, 3 starters before I got a good one. Every time they tried blaming my car. Never the taiwan starter. I finally got a good one, still going. Hope this helps.

If you have any other fittings on the valve cover (pcv valve, breather tube etc) you can put a hose into the valve cover through that hole and fill it. (slowly...most have baffles inside). I have seen engines filled through the dipstick tube also (takes forever though).
Once you get oil in there, bring it to a shop and have someone show you how to get the fill cap off so it is easier next time.
All the lights on the vehicle work but break
There is a switch under the dash on the steering column that could be bad. Also, check fuses and if you have a tow package, check the connections under the rear of the vehicle for corrosion or grounding out.
