How do you get the shifter knob off of an 82 chevy camaro berlinetta?
Wow...You have one of those... Hold on to it.... If you look close there should be a c clip down in the knob hole you pictured. You may need a clip tool to spread the clip so you can remove the knob. If there is no c clip the slots you see on the sides is actually the head of a nut that holds the knob on you need a special tool to get it off..
Needle nose pliers may be used to engage the slots a tiny bit of wd40 probably wouldn't hurt either
I dont know where the temp gauge sensor port is
I'm pretty sure all GM's are the same. Look between the first 2 exhaust runners on the driver's side and you should find the sensor tucked in between the #1 plug and the exhaust manifold. Hope this helps.
Hard shifting
Sounds like maybe you missed the vacuum line on the back of the carb to the modulator valve on the trans. Also check your throttle linkage to make sure it it exactly the same as what you took off. It's quite possible that it is a little different and there is either not enough or too much play in the kickdown cable. To be properly positioned it should be snug at idle without it being pulled out or hanging slack. Hope this helps.
89 G20 steering gear box question
Best way is to dry off everything in that area and place a piece of cardboard down under it. Either wait a day...or a few hours (depending on how bad it is leaking) or start the vehicle and turn the steering wheel from side to side. This should be able to pinpoint WHERE the leak is originating....then you can fix what is leaking. The steering gear box is actually easy to replace.
