1991 Buick Park Avenue - Page 3 Questions & Answers
1991 buick park avenue starts when gas petal is pressed but dies once you let off gas petal
There could be several causes for this problem but from your description it sounds as if you car is not getting enough gas. This could be caused by a plugged fuel filter. Another cause could be a fuel pressure sensor. General Motors has had a lot problems with this in the past. One quick way to find the problem is to have the vehicle hooked up to an analyzer and see what code is displayed. The cost of this is usually around $65 or slightly higher in some areas plus the cost of the parts. If it is a fuel filter the part is relatively cheap. Analyzer prices are higher. Make sure your mechanic quotes you a price before having it repaired and also ask him for the code number from the analyzer. This will usually keep him honest.

Which fuse controls the heat
Hi Sherae, I'm glad to help!
Sherae, when you go back to vehicles in the nineties the heat is usually operated by a cable which can break OR simply get out of adjustment. Another issue, some vehicles have a "Heater Control Valve" under the hood that the water goes through before going into the heater core. This valve is vacuum OR cable operated, simply check to make sure HOT Water is flowing through both hoses and reaching the heater core. The other issue you could have is the "Heater Core" could be restricted and causing a no heat problem. Here's how to check it, run the engine until its at operating temperature, then put your hand on one of the heater core hoses under the hood. Then put your other hand on the other hose and if one hose is too hot to hold and the other one is just warm then you have a restriction in the heater core and it needs to be replaced. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Sherae.
