How to calibrate a carb for 1988 spectrum

It should have a base idle screw, and probably has an electric idle speed control motor that is adjustable. You may need a shop manual to get the procedures.

1988 chevy spectrum dies when first excellerate from stop light

Did you change the fuel filter? Also if this could be temperature related, does the distance matter for the first stoplight? The O2 sensor may not be warm enough. How about Vacuum? Use of Brake booster pulls down engine vacuum and you have ZIP when accelerating. Then loose gasket tightens up with engine heat and there is enough vacuum to eliminate the problem.EGR slightly dirty, sticks until heated up?I am curious, please send final results.

Car will not start

There are some possibilities which you will have to check in this case:--

1) First of all check the power and voltage to the battery. With meter it will show exact 12 volt if the battery is charged. If the voltage is less get the battery charged at local auto repair shop. If the battery is internally drained and not getting charged then its time to replace the battery.

2) When you crank the car do you see spark coming at the spark plug? If no then its time to check the spark plugs and coil pack. If the spark plugs are not worn out and looks new then its time to check coil pack. The spark plug gets power to spark from coil pack.

3) The other thing to check in this case is the starter solenoid of the car. If the battery is charged and you start the car then it gives power to the starter to start the car. But if starter is faulty or not connected properly then car will not start.

4) The other thing to check in this case is fuel in the car. If there is fuel in the car then check the blockages in the fuel pump if the fuel pump looks proper then check the fuel filter above the fuel pump.

5) If all the above possibilities mentioned above checked out OK/perfect then it's a electrical issue and the wiring's in the car needs to be checked. The car gets power from the battery to get started. so the wires from battery needs to be checked one by one.

Did the 1988 Chevrolet 1 Ton come equiped with a

Yes they did, and I used to maintain a fleet of them for a certain lath and plaster business in the mid 90's and most of them that I serviced were from around 1987 to 1988 and all of them had a smog pump, and I also had to make sure that they all passed a bi-annual emission inspection.

Setting tdc after putting on new belt. Aligning

You really need a manual to tell you where the marks are supposed to be in a picture. I recommend a hanes manual. They explaing everything in laymans terms. But TDC will take care of itself so long as you get all of the marks right.

Heater/A/C blower motor gets no power to switch.

hello. i can assist you. You will find that there is a A/C relay under the dash or in the electrical panel under the hood, that controls the blower motor. Replace that relay and you will be up and running. ask at any auto zone or similar parts store and they will know what part it is, where it is and how much it is. good luck with it.

have your battery checked at an auto store. most do it for free. if it's not that, i'd have the altinater checked.they'll do that too, but you'll have to take it out yourself or have someone else do it.

1988 Corvette Hot Start problem

well there are a few things that can cause this and Im sure you have tried most but I will run down my normal list first fuel vapor lock is still a problem on high performance cars in the 80s try cycling the key 3 or 4 times from off to on pausing briefly between each cycle to push fuel through the lines if that does work check the location of the fuel line on the front of the block of it is touching there is your problem ok if that doesnt work coil saturation meaning the heat is actually causing it not to fire next would be the the distributor first cap and rotor wires breakdown plugs even do not use platinum or iridium plugs in anything that old even if you think its in great shape one speck of oil it wont fire through it then you have the electronic module in the distributor most chain parts stores can test them for you for free hell most are cheap for the older cars good luck and if you need clarification or more help let me know Danny

1988 Chevrolet Spectrum Base Sedan Recalls

f you are thinking of buying a used Chevrolet Spectrum be sure to see if there are any manufacture recalls for the car that you should be aware of. The NHTSA compiles a list of all reported problems from car owners all over the country and if there is a defective part, they will release a recall with instructions on how and where to get it fixed. Many times these fixes are free but be sure to check out the recall history of the cars you are interested in before you make your final decision.
