I changed my timing chain and gears and i cant get

Verify that the distributor rotor is pointing directly at the #1 cylinder spark plug wire tower on the distributor cap, with engine set to TDC on the compression stroke for the #1 cylinder.
If not, and you have not touched the distributor previously, you have not set up the valve timing properly. Recheck your timing gear and chain alignment marks.
Hope any of this helps you. Good Luck!
If you need a diagram of the timing chain and gears, email me a request at [email protected]

I hooked up the spark plug wires wrong on the distrator cap

find the firing order which is usually on the intake manifold, put the crankshaft on 0 degrees top dead center, pull off the distributor cap and mark where the rotor button is pointing, start #1 cylinder at that spot(which that spot should be pointing towards the rear of the distributor),and # 1 cylinder is front of engine on the drivers side then it goes next 1 back #3 then # 5,and the passengers side front is #2, then #4,then #6 towards the back, and the firing order goes clockwise on the distributor.if it spits and sputters or back fires, then the timing firing order is off 180 degrees,so move every wire to the exact opposite on the cap,so your #1 plug wire will be opposite from where you put it first.then double check the firing order and all plug wires then try it.the firing order is:165432,i still dont know how to send pictures.

1988 1500 series half ton. Air vents to mid dash

It sounds like the door on the defroster isn't opening. Check for a vacuum leak and also check the temp.control valve this should have several vacuum hoses coming from it. This valve controls all the doors, Bi-level, Defroster, and Floor positions.

I have a c3500 chevy silverado, 7.4 litre engine

Is this tbi? I'll have to look it up but it should be set at zero degrees with the timing connector unplugged, I think. The timing connector is under the plastic relay cover on the passenger side firewall. It is a single wire plug that the wire is tan with a black tracer. With this unplugged you set the timing mark to the large gap on the timing tab.

I can crank the truck with no problem. After it

The ignition module on this model is bad to go bad,When this truck dies like that again, check to see if it is firing. If it is not giving any spark, replace the ignition module,if it does not fix the problem, replace the pick up coil in the distributor.Ignition coils can cause this also, but the symptom sounds like the module. If I can help, let me know,If you have spark after the engine dies(check for spark after it dies)then check the fuel pressure, and the fuel filter. If the fuel pressure is fine, then the module and the pick up coil need replacing.

Sounds like a body ground for your tail lights is either disconnected or rusted where it connects to the chasis.

88 k-1500 will not stay running after changing the trans

I'D START BY CHECKING FOR ANY VACCUM LEAKS NEAR AND ABOUT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. IF IN FACT YOU DO HAVE AN 88 IT SHOULDNT BE CARBUREATED IT SHOULD BE FUEL INJECTED. IF SO YOU NEED MORE THAN 45PSI OF FUEL PRESSURE TO MAKE IT RUN RIGHT. TURN ON THE KEY BUT DO NOT START THE ENGINE. LISTEN AND SEE IF YOU CAN HEAR THE FUEL PUMP CHARGE THE SYSTEM, SHOULD BE A LIGHT HISSING SOUND. IF SO START THE ENGINE. WHEN IT SHUTS OFF THEN TURN OFF THE KEY AND REPEAT THIS PROCESS AGAIN, IF YOU CANT HEAR THE NOISE AND IT WILL NOT CRANK THEN EITHER YOU MAY HAVE A FAULTY FUEL PUMP THAT IS ONLY WORKING INTERMITTENLY DUE TO BAD PUMP BRUSHES (REPLACE FUEL PUMP) OR YOU HAVE A BAD FUEL PUMP RELAY.
LET ME KNOW IF I CAN HELP YOU FURTHER
