Brake pedal on my 98 chevy s10 is soft

You could have a weak slave cylinder, or the fingers on the pressure plate may be worn out. If this is the original clutch I would probably say that is about worn out and the clutch fork is at the end of it's travel and can not be adjust out any further.
On some slave cylinder end you can find that the end of the slave rod had a adjustment ball that can be screwed out to help decrease free play. You might look and see if your slave has an adjustable rod, if not you are going to likely going to have to replace either the slave or the clutch.
1988 chev trans takes high rpm to shift from 1st
Check the adjustment of the transmission T.V. cable. Sometimes they also stick. Try driving it at 30. Shift to Neutral, stab the gas pedal to the floor quickly a couple of times. Then shift back to drive. Then see if it shift normal.
Loose Tilt Steering
You need to remove the steering wheel all the way down to the directional switch to gain access to tighten up the tilt housing set screws
Istalled new starter. vehical started and ran.
If the battery is boiling while engine is running,the alternator is over charging,the battery maybe bad now,this can cause the plates in the battery to fry,have the battery load tested on an electronic tester,not an analog ,cause it can blow up,make sure the battery cables are on the battery correctly,if this was any help,at all,please rate,and thank you,

E.C.M control injector pulsation, with key on check for voltage at injector harness, then reverse test light at battery and check for ground at the other wire at injector harness, crank engine ground should have pulsation if none bad E.C.M,good luck,hope this was very helpful.

One easy thing you can try is spray some carb.or brake cleaner around the throttle body area.The gaskets on these were known to go out and this will cause a fast idle.The other thing is make sure the throttle cable or linkage is not sticking or binding.Hope this helps.Good luck.Let me know what you find out.

idl air control (IAC),may be bad,also,check the EGR valve,and all vacuum lines going and coming from the throttle body. yu can test the EGR,just try pushing the diaphram by hand from beneath. if you can move it easily its good,if its hard,or doesnt move,ot needs repaced. also a pcv valve and air filter are good ideas,considering you have replaced 80% of the emission system already.
