Lights are going crazy like bad ground or computer on my 1985 vette
If you are are talking about the dashboard lights, there is a known problem that causes them to go "crazy" as you call it. There is a part known as the tachometer filter. This is a capacitor that filters the noise coming mainly from the ignition and that causes the dashboard display to go "crazy". If that is your problem, go to Ecklers store on web and search for the tachometer filter. It comes with instructions. This part goes next and connects to your distributor.Joe.
How to replace headlight switch
The first step is to remove the knob from the metal stem of the switch. Look on the side of the knob and you will find an opening. With a small screwdriver, push to release the tension on the stem and pull it out. Then you have to remove the plastic bezel in front of the instrument cluster. There are screws on the side, so open the drivers door and remove those screws. There are screws around instrument cluster, remove those and several other screws. Remove the plastic bezel, at this point you should remove the threaded washer that holds the switch in place. After that you can remove it from the back. Disconnect the wires, etc. Save the stem as you need to put it in the new switch. Installation is the reverse of what you have done.Joe.

Your problem can have multiple sources. Spark plugs, change those if they are old. Injectors can be dirty. There are injector cleaning products that you can try. The best I have seen is one that you inject the cleaning solution into the system via shrader valve at the fuel rail, disable the fuel pump and run the car only with the cleaning solution that is coming from a pressurized container. At the same time change your fuel filter. If your distributor rotor cap and spark plug wires are old, replace those. There is an idle control air valve that regulates your idle. That could be a source of the problem also. Query the on board computer and see if you have any codes. My advice, start with the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and fuel filter if they are old and go from there. That should be an easy task that does not demand a lot of skills. See if that helps.Joe
1985 corvette, less than 10,000
You probably have a bad fuel pump. Get a fuel pressure gauge and check for fuel pressure at the shrader valve. Put the key to the on position. Your fuel pump should run for about 2 seconds. Your pressure should go up to 30-40 psi. If no pressure your pump is bad. Make sure you hear the relay come on, otherwise could be the relay. You should hear it click when you turn the key to the on position.Joe.
1985 corvette cranks but won't
Check to see if you have spark, if you do, and still it does not start, then you may think that fuel is not getting to it. At this point, use some starting fluid and spray it at the throttle opening. That should start it for a few seconds and give you the answer. Joe.
Location of temperature sending unit
The temperature sensor is a resistor whose resistance varies with temperature. It is locate in the front of the intake manifold, just below the bypass hose. The bypass hose is a short hose U shaped just below the throttle body. You can see these parts better if you disconnect the the funnel shaped plastic piece that joints the MAF sensor and the throttle body. Hope that helps. Joe.Joe.
As soon as it goes
Many things can cause this, one of the main reasons would be a vacuum leak on the intake manifold on the manifold or around the carb.. If you think this is a cause, spray starting fluid around the manifold when at idle if the engine acts up when spraying in a certain area you have a vacuum leak. Another reason would be that the engine is out of time, you spark timing is off.
