At the starter!

What in the hell is a saterer or faywell? What is a noes wall stearing? I am guessing you have noise coming from your steering pump. This is most likely caused by a faulty steering pump. If there is a leak, you can try to top off the pump with steering fluid and "burp" the system by turning the steering wheel all the way to the left and then right with someone topping it off. If the sound goes away, check for where it is leaking.

what is your issue, I could be wrong, but don't recall a relay...

Check the votage of the battery with a volt tester in the DC mode and the probes reversed ( black on red red on black) if a reading of voltages shows of any amount, the diode is bad in the altenator

Try replacing the lines themselves and the seals at the ends of the lines

It is problemly the ignition module in the distrubter

try an new tune up, cap rotor plugs wires, do a fuel filter, and a carbon clean, then check the timing correct it if necessary and the adjust the carb

you can either order it from the manufacturer or buy a chilton's auto repair manual for you year and make of car

make sure that its the right fuse that you put into it. otherwise something is being overloaded

25th and just tap the outside electrode down a bit to achieve this

Don't waste your time looking for a headlamp relay. You will not find one. 1983 Monte Carlo does not use a headlamp relay. Your problem is most likely a defective headlamp dimmer switch. It is located about halfway down the upper left side of the steering column. It is secured by the same screws that mount the ignition switch. It is activated by a metal rod that pushes down on it when you pull back on your turn signal lever. It looks like the picture below.

Sounds like vapor lock in the gas tank. I would try replacing the gas cap before doing anything else.

Sometimes the only solution is the easiest and last thing you try.

The fuse box will be hiding under the dash, mounted on the firewall behind the parking brake pedal. Bring a flashlight and knee pads. The writing is hard to read without extra light and you either have to hang upside down on the seat or kneel on the ground to see it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. You need to check your ignition fuse in your fuse box. If the fuse is good, make sure the terminals ends on your battery wires are not loose. Make sure they are clean. If your battery connection is good and the battery as well, try changing the starter or starter solenoid. Once you find it, try hitting it a few times to see if it will start. Since the battery connection and battery is good at this point, change the starter. Make sure all the wires to the starter are connected. When working on the starter, make sure you take the battery terminals off.

It should reads in inches of vacuum not in pressure (p.s.i.). What code do you have?

on an 83 its either fuses,bad wiring or maybe even bulbs. oh yeah the sockets could be bad. one will cause the other to not work.

You'll need a starter from a 1993 C2500 Suburban which came with a 454. Assuming you're running a TH400 this should solve your issues.

The "+" positive battery cable and all other wires with large eyelet connectors connect to the upper large terminal on the starter solenoid, and the wire with the small eyelet connector (usually a purple wire) will connect to the small "S" terminal on the starter solenoid, and if there is a small "R" or "I" terminal on the starter solenoid it will not be used for your vehicle and it is only for older vehicles with breaker point ignition systems.
