PO446 OBD code on 2005 4.8 liter Chevy Silverado

Evaporative Control Vent valve has only one purpose. It closes in order to seal the vent so the EVAP system can pressurize and ensure there are no leaks. Evap vent valve is usually supplied Batt. voltage with key on. The ECM's driver controls the ground, and when grounded, activates the valve (closing it). If the ECM detects a short to ground, and open,or a short to battery voltage on the control circuit, P0446 will set. Code also may refer to ECM detecting that EVAP system is unable to achieve or maintain
vacuum during test.
Possible causes
- Faulty vent valve
- Open, short or excessive resistance on Vent valve control circuit
- Blockage of vent valve
- Bad PCM
Possible solutions:Replace Vent valve
- Repair open, short, or resistance problem in control circuit
- Repair open, or short, or resistance problem in power circuit
- Replace PCM I hope this atleast narrowed it for you.
Then engine is reaching normal operating temp.
Then the problem is likely due to a component called the "AIR TEMPERATURE CONTROL BLEND DOOR" not functioning, it is either warped and sticking or the tiny electric motor (blend door actuator) drive that moves it is is defective, both parts are usually replaced at the same time. The repair requires the dash assembly be removed from the truck to access the parts. This is a daunting task even for a professional, i would rather go home sick than do this job. If you want to tackle it you MUST have a factory repair manual, if not you may get it apart but back together is another story, I speak from 35 years of experience. You can purchase the factory manuals for download just click

Yellow emission light on left upper side of dash
The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.
When the yellow Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible system faults (the gas cap is just one of them) that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen/Oriley and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.
I have a 05 silverado all three break lights do
Have you checked the bulbs? Some people don't beleive all the lights can burn out at once but when one brake light is on they are all on and for the same amount of time.
If the bulbs are fine then check the connection where the trailer plug is to the main harness. Some of those connectors go between the main harness and the tail lights and the connector can go bad.

P0449 is the evap vent valve solenoid circuit malfuntion.
P0455 is an evap gross leak
Perhaps the gross leak code has to do with the vent valve. Find the vent valve. It should be near a rectangle evap canister. Maybe under the bed. The small vent line from the fuel tank will go to it. The solenoid is near the cansiter. With the key off the valve will be open. With the key on it should be closed. You may try disconnection the hose and blow through it with both key off and on and see if air will pass through. If the valve has died and is stuck open, that can be the huge leak.
If it is not the leak then a smoke machine should be used. Easier than searching the lines for bad o-rings, splits, or whatevers.
