i would deff check the relay i had a problem with my relay going out on my 04 but i just ran my fan to a togle switch so i can turn it on and off when i want it on when im in dead stop situations like traffic and also when your ac is on the fan has to be on or your ac will cut on and off to keep your car from really over heating in a hurry if your not moving, but i also run my car at the track and it helps to keep it cooler when racing down the drag strip.

Pressureize the cooling system and look for a leak, most likely the water pump:p

check the iac and tps

Could be not getting power.It sounds like the key switch may not be sending power to all of the circuits when it fails to start.

check cooling fan operation has fuse, relay and temp switch to operate

to check it . wire at the fuel tank gauge unplug it the black and purple wire for gauge. put a variable resistor , fuel gauge is rated 0 to 90 ohms. So variate the resistor and see if fuel gauge move. if it does fuel sender have problem or inside tank wire

The CHANGE OIL LIGHT can be rest by putting on the key with engine off, and pumping the gas pedal up and down completely 3X in 5 seconds. Sould clear then, if nec. repeat.

Hello there Its a Known problem with these engines..The lifters are usually the case to thes problem or the rocker arms are coming loose.Take off valve cover and start to find the bad one..Oil will leak over head but is the only way to pin point the problem.If the sound is a little lower in the motor It might have a sloppy rist pin in the cylinder causing the piston to slap the side walls..If it does it at an idle or under a load its the rist pin.If it does it at all different rpm and doesnt matter if its under load its the lifter area.Now the timing chain.Could case all thee above.So a way to check that is as long as you got the belt off grab a hold off the crank pulley and rock it back and forth.If you feel it grab a few inches side to side iits really loose and thats your problem.If it doesnt have much slop back and forth and turns the cam quickly the move on to the other parts I have stated.These steps will help you to solve the problem.I hope this helps you and good luck..Have a great after noon... Should be the black wire in the harness going into the tank.It actually goes to a main body ground in the middle of the car.
