2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Duramax diesel Silverado 2500HD 2001 is throwing code P0093.....Can anyone tell us what to do to fix it?
Very odd. A Google search comes back with lots of "Duramax" hits . The code is: "Fuel System Leak Detected - Large Leak"Some fixes that I found were replacing the fuel filter, others changed the FPRV (Fuel pump return valve?) When you're pulling a trailer there is a much greater load (air resistance) even when just cruising. Empty or fully loaded, it's mass won't matter, it's the extra fuel required at every phase of your drive. If the fuel filter is getting clogged, it's possible that some sensor is showing a pressure that is beyond predetermined limits. Try the fuel filter replacement first to see if that fixes it.
Know if coil is bad
The easiest way I found is..have someone with a conductive electrical tester or timing light.i prefer the timing light..Just clamp it over the wire coming fro the coil and plug .Then start your car or if it won't start turn the engine over a fastest speed it can..point the timing light to the under hood or where the light will show..if it blinks as the engine is turning it is working if not it is bad..good luck.

2001 2500hd duramax idle surge. doesn't do it all
Well there are quite a few things that casue a "surge" in a common rail diesel. You will need to check injector flow rates (scanner only). Fuel pressure regulator for pulsing (scanner only). Supply side fuel system for air leaks (seeing if it is sucking air into the system).
My bet would be the injectors, because you say the rpms aren't going up and down, which is usally what happens when the regulator goes bad, and when you **** air into the supply they have an extended crank. Report back with your findings.
Reset oil change code for a 2001 chevy silverado 2500
If you have an owners manual it explains it in there.. I have a 2002 Chevy express van and you have to turn the key to the on position ( do not start). fully depress the accelerater twice then start the engine. this turns the oil light off in my van. ( this was in my owners manual)
