What does the bcm do?
BCM stands for body control module. Practically everything inside the car runs off or threw the BCM. The BCM is connected to all the other computers in the car. It also stores the signal for the security system.

Ignition switch
Your ignition is probably bad. It may be the ignition actuator rod, if your car has one. It can be replaced fairly easily and only costs around $40.00, but I've not worked on a GM ignition for a while, so I'm not sure it has one. If not, you may want to get a replacement ignition from a salvage yard
Car is in security mode and wont start how do i get it out of security mode
Whenever
this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating
that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of
lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected
a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM,
SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must
now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and
"scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the
problem(s)

Had short in fan that killed engine and it want start, 2002 monte carlo
When the fan stopped working did car temp gauge ever max out if so check coolant level to see if still full check oil if there is any white sludge. If coolant and oil are good than you might have a bad coolant sensor which also operates fan and engine a bad sensor can cause car not to start and ever run very poorly
