1999 Chevrolet Tracker - Page 6 Questions & Answers
1999 chevy tracker, no power, can't get over
I assume you have already checked your air filter and air inlet for clogging. Another simple diagnostic is to sniff the exhaust when the engine is cold. If it smells very dirty or like unburned gasoline, you either have too rich a mixture or ignition problems. If that is not the issue, verify that your fuel system has adequate pressure, and that it holds pressure when the engine is accelerated. Most fuel injection systems have a Schrader valve somewhere under the hood for this purpose, and for safely releasing fuel pressure for service. You'll need to get a pressure gauge designed for this purpose - many auto parts stores have some sort of tool deposit/loan program so you don't have to buy it outright. Inadequate fuel pressure can be due to a faulty pressure regulator, failing fuel pump, dented or kinked fuel line, or clogged fuel pump inlet screen.Another possible cause for poor high-speed performance is a slipping torque converter. However, there will be a noticeable difference between engine acceleration and vehicle acceleration in this case (engine RPM will jump, but the car will crawl).
Headlamp plastic covers are cloudy...where can you
You can not buy just the covers. They come as complete assemblies as the dealer quoted you. What you can do is call around your area to find a shop that offer's headlamp restorations.
Basically they will sand all the degraded material off of the lenses, polish them, and then reseal them. I do them all the time with fantastic results.
I can give you some instruction on how to do this yourself if you are interested or you can check out my how to tip.

How to change license plate bulb in chevy tracker
The light socket goes in from the back it's rubber and only truns a quarter of a turn and pull out. the bulb is a 194 and most all dept stores and auto parts stores will have them they are a very common bulb. a 168 will also fit.
What kind of AT transmission
- You need to use an SPIII type transmission fluid available from the dealership. You can also use ATF and add a friction additive so long as on the back it lists SPIII as a compatibility. You would use the entire 7oz bottle with one transmission fluid flush (or add one ounce per quart of ATF). Either one will work.
- Thank you for using FixYa.

Have your alternator checked as soon as possible. Do not continue to drive this vehicle as you have a serious issue which can and will do unrepairable harm to the electronics in the vehicle. Take the vehicle directly to a qualified auto electrician..
