1999 Chevrolet Astro - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Will a 1997 Astro van 4.3 motor fit a 1999 GMC saffia
I have never heard of a Saffia.
It will fit into a GMC Safari and a GMC Sierra as long as you are replacing an existing 4.3 motor and you swap other needed components that are model year specific. These items may include exhaust manifolds, sensors, certain wire harnesses, fuel line and securing brackets, motor mounts and possibly the accessory brackets.
Spending a little time examining the two motors side by side prior to full install will help you to identify any differences in the above mentioned items and save fitting headaches later.
Idle boost servo that is in the A/C on circuit..location ?
There is no such component on that vehicle. You have a fuel injected engine which uses and IAC (idle air control) solenoid mounted on the throttle body to control idle speed. When the A/C is turned on, the ECM sees the request and moves the IAC pintle to allow for a slightly higher idle due to the load of the A/C compressor. There is a small port near the top of the throttle body above the IAC solenoid (air cleaner duct removed) that you can spray some carburetor cleaner into. If a sludge buildup is causing the IAC pintle to stick, this may free it up.
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF A BAD CRANK SENSOR?
A failed crank sensor will not allow the engine to start, it will crank but not run. If the crank sensor is faulty (intermittently lose the signal) , it may run but the engine will die out as soon as the signal from the sensor to the ECM is lost. If a die out (after the engine was running) is the problem, check the terminals at the sensor to make sure there is a tight fit to the mating terminals of the harness and look for any rub through of the harness allowing it to short to a metal engine component. if OK, replace the sensor
How to fix surging and fast idle 1999 chev astro van
Clean the throttle /throttle plate, MAF(mass air flow sensor) (if you have one), and the idle air control motor. You can use brake clean and a toothbrush. But not on the MAF sensor. Just spray it with brake clean.
Why won't 1999 vw beetle restart when hot
More detail is needed. Does the engine crank but will not start? How long will it take to cool down and restart after the engine has been warm and shut off? Does it attempt to fire but not stay running, or just crank without any sign of ignition (engine attempting to start)?
What sensor is located on the rear right side, that connect to the block?
Well, if you mean the sensor that is located between the second and third spark plug on the DRIVER'S side of the block? That is the coolant gauge sensor.. Interesting, the same part number sensor(WT3000Z) is used by the computer to determine the coolant temperature for starting up - such as fast idle / running operation.. It is located on top of the block behind the coolant inlet hose.. That is the part that gives a lot of the starting problems.. If the radiator becomes low in coolant the part will get extremely hot and destroy itself?.. If you have weird starting problems, just replace it?.. They are cheap.. Here is a picture of the sensor..
Wheret is the heater circuit?
P0155 is an O2 sensor heater circuit problem Bank 2 sensor 1. Replace the O2 sensor closest to the engine on the passenger side. The heaters are built into the sensor. No repairing them.
1999 astro/4.3L/starts cold /runs 10-15
car shuts off when it gets to normal operating range. it takes 10-15 minutes to reach normal range. causes: low coolant, failing coolant tempurature sensor, air in water pump, check the coolant temp. sensor. if it is bad it will send wrong info to engine when hot, and shut it down. ITS WORTH A TRY!! good-day!
What is a heater circuit
That can be one of two things. IT can be the path that the coolant flows through from the engine to the heater core OR it could be the electrical wiring.
Put on new fuel pump got pressuer but want stay cranked
Your post is lacking any detail. However, if you are stating that the engine starts after being cranked but dies out (wont stay running) there are 2 ways the fuel pump is activated. When the key is first turned on, there is a 5 second fuel pump run (the ECM energizes the fuel pump relay). After the engine starts, the fuel pump relay will only stay energized when the oil pressure switch closes keeping the fuel pump relay on (oil pressure is above 5-7 psi). If the oil pressure switch is faulty or there is no oil pressure, the engine will stall just after starting.
