How to replace a thermostat on a1998 Chevrolet
you may be able to take off the water housing by taking the front bolt out and loosening the rear, but its TOUGH to get too. A repair shop can do it for you. I replace them if I have the intake manifold off for any reason. check if intake gaskets are leaking,(common), then you need them replaced and the thermostat is easy to replace at that time.
1998 Chevy Monte Carlo. Brake lights won't work.
you give some good clues. because your third brake light works but not the other two, and because you sometimes get brake lights if you have turn signals on at the same time, i would say that some wires got crossed up with your other taillights. check out the power wires back in the taillight assembly and the wires that run back to the taillights. something is mixed up back there, now you just have to find it. if all else fails after you isolate which wires are the brake light wires get some new wire, same gauge and roughly same length, remove a bit of insulation but don't cut the wire in two, and put the new wire in as an overlay. if having the new piece of wire there makes the brake light work you found the break in the wire. you can cut out the bad piece and fasten the new piece in. you can solder it if you have the equipment to do that, or you can buy some squeeze in place connectors at the car parts store. either way, good idea to tape it up when you are done. hope that helps
Change rotor on
Remove distributor cap (and inspect interior terminals), lift off rotor and replace. Not much to it - unless there are details you've omitted here...?best regards.,Ck
Can i use a motor out of a 1994 3.1 chevy beretta
To be honest here i have never seen one as iam in spain but providing that the block is the same then i dont see why not ,you will have to change things like the fuel system and the coil pack and sensor layout but with a bit of jiggery pokery and do not be in a rush to get it finsihed by a set time then i would say yes its totally feasable but be prepared for the odd throw up like a different size flywheel or different alternator bracket and such but with the old car next to your one so you have all the parts then changing the mods over isnt such a daunting task .Must say though that picture of the car looks like remarkable like a opel omega though
I have a 1998 monte, I just rplaced the cam
Having owned a trans repair shop once, I would believe
you should not replace a speed sensor & believe your transaxle
may need a rebuild at some time not too far away
If your not using a professional scan tool & component
testing using an oscilloscope, your throwing parts at who
knows what. So stop.
Tell me you have a scope on the cam sensor when the car
worked fine & the pattern is now not right, that is something
for discussion.
Some of those folks may be questionable ,but give them
some credit for going to work in that field every day.
Not easy as your experiencing first hand
My 99 3.1 Monte Carlo
I have the same problem few days ago, and still didn't find any solution. Can any one please help?????
How can you tell if
Ill answer your last question first. If an engine is rebuilt completely, part of the job involves cleaning the parts. Therefore there should be little or no road dirt, grease deposits etc anywhere. In most cases, even if not properly cleaned, there would not be any accumulations at parting lines between parts and new gaskets should be evident, installed between those parts such as intake or cylinder heads. A complete rebuild is very expensive and requires that the engine be completely removed from the vehicle.
Now...to determine if a thermostat is stuck, you'd need to remove it and actually look at it. If it's stuck open you can see that. To determine if it's stuck closed, you'd need to boil it and observe what temp it opens, or if it opens. Generally though, since a thermostat rarely costs more than a few dollars, it'[s easier just to replace it if you even think it's bad. You can alw sometimes get an idea about the condition o fthe thermostat by comparing the temp of the lower and upper hoses but if the radiator is internally obstructed it will give you a false diagnosis.
How to check if the thermostat is stuck on 98
you will have to remove the thermostat & place in a saucepan or the like & cover it with cold water, & gradually bring the water up to boiling point to see if the thermostat opens, if it does'nt it is faulty & needs replacing.......hope this helps......cheers.
