Before you dive in you may want to check the oil on the dipstick to see if it looks/feels thin or watery. If that is the case, you may have other issues like water in the oil system from a bad head gasket - water looks like bubbles on the dipstick. If oil of the wrong type was used, the problem may be that the oil is too thin to work properly and needs to be replaced. If the oil looks fine and feels like its got the right consistency, the problem may just be with the oil pump. You didn't mention it but have you noticed the vehicle running hotter than normal? Is the SECURITY light lit on the dash ? If so there is a problem with the anti- theft system . An a code is stored in what ever module controls it . There is a way to by-pass it . go to you tube an search GM VATS , Pass key , pass lock how to bypass .Or you can take it to a Chevy dealer or some other repair shop. Just depends on how much money you want to spend. And if you bypass the system your vehicle won't be protected from theft anymore !

check pt numbers to ensure compatibility,but more than likely its a short in the wiring caused by reinstall of pump,pinched or broken wire,retrace your a steps you will find if not try jumping the pump off of the battery,to test it just to narrow it down a little
