I have a 1997 monte carlo that will run fine when
Hello: WHEN IT DOESN'T START THAT IS THE TIME YOU NEED TO DIAGNOISE THE PROBLEM. A INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE NEEDS THREE THINGS TO RUN- AIR, FUEL AND SPARK. CHECK FUEL PRESSURE. CHECK FOR SPARK TO THE SPARKPLUGS. IT COULD BE THE ENGINE COMPUTER , THE IGNITION MODULE. IT COULD BE THE CRANK SENSOR. WITHOUT HANDS ON DIAGNOSIS I WOULD BE GUESSING.
I changed the radio in my 97 monte carlo ls by
Yes it does you interuptted a power supply. You basically need to get another power B+ from a different source like the battery itself. Or a empty fuse slot. Becareful even with a common ground for cruise and speed gauge.
My radio is locked i just need the code for a
If the code is not at the back of your manual, try 0000 and if the radio locked it self from taking any more codes. Just disconnect the battery and that will reset the radio so you can re-enter the code. If 0000 did not work then log on to Radio-code.com, you can get your cod there for like $12.00 which is cheaper then the dealer and you get to know the codes as most dealer will just unlock the radio. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted if you have any more question.
I got a 1997 z 34 still working on the problem I'm
Check your radiator for good flow. Drain a little coolant and look inside to see if you can see any of the tubes blocked from scale, rust, etc. Flush with a water hose till it drains clean water. Also clean the outside if dirty.
Have the cooling system pressure tested. Maybe your radiator cap is bad.
When you are re-adding coolant, don't forget to burp the system or bleed the air out. Air pockets can also lead to overheating.
Good luck.
How to change spark plugs on 97 chevrolet monte carlo 4.3 liter engine
I can't see how your car would be aany different from every other car. Yoou will need a spark plug spanner. First , take the wiring from No. 1 plug. Loosen the plug by turning your spanner anti-clockwise. Take that plug out, and replace it with a new one. Tighter it by turning clock-wise. Now do the same for each plug in turn. By just doing them one at a time you won't make a mistake with the wiring.
My 1997 monte carlo starts up fine and then shuts off do u know what that could be

Check the entire fuel delivery system.- Relieve system pressure. Disconnect the negative battery cable and loosen the gas cap to let pressure drain from the system. Attach a dual tube pressure gauge to the test port and drain fuel into an approved container.
- Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor vacuum hose. Check for fuel in the line. If there is fuel present in the line, the fuel delivery problem is likely caused by a faulty fuel pump pressure regulator. If there is no fuel in the line, reattach the vacuum hose and continue with the fuel delivery diagnostic.
- Twist off the fuel pressure test port cap and attach a pressure gauge to the fuel pressure valve if one is not already connected. Reconnect the negative battery cable and turn the key to the first position. Do not start the engine.
- Check the pressure gauge. It needs to register between 45 and 48 psi. Start the engine and let it idle. Check the gauge again. It needs to register approximately 46 psi. Leave the engine on and remove the vacuum hose. Check the gauge one last time. It needs to register approximately 50 psi. Pressure that's too high indicates a malfunctioning pressure regulator. Low pressure indicates a clogged fuel filter or a broken fuel pump that needs to be replaced.
- Cut the engine off, relieve system pressure again and remove the negative battery cable.
- Clean the fuel filter inlet with compressed air to remove any dirt that might come loose and contaminate the fuel supply as you remove the fuel filter. Pull the filter out at the male filter fitting and disconnect the remaining connections to the filter. Remove the filter.
- Examine the filter for clogs and replace it if necessary. If there are no clogs, the fuel delivery problem is probably caused by a breakdown in the fuel pump itself.
DO NOT RUN OUT AND BUY ANYTHING YET! This was only the opening act.All of the above systems are monitored by GM Powertrain Module (a.k.a. on-board computer). A diagnostic scan retrieves any inform related to the malfunctioning parts and tells you precisely what is wrong. Perform the scan diagnostic now.Start the car and perform another scan. The reason we rescan and repair non-related codes after the engine is running is because sometime false codes can be triggered by the engine not running. Once the engine is running again the code present might cycle and turn itself off. You might say "if the engine doesn't run shouldn't it have a trouble code?" Sometimes conditions occur that will not be detected by the computer, e.g.,if the fuel pump fails the computer cannot detect the failure, so the engine doesn't start and the computer thinks everything is okay with no codes. If no trouble codes are present proceed to the next step.If you have trouble using the code scanner or interpreting the codes click on the following link and use my access code (carrepair): Free Automotive Repair information for Users of a Code ScannerI know that the above is wordy but I wanted to do more than just tell you that your problem is complex. All the best,Ben
Change the racket pion
To change the rack and pinion on your Monte Carlo you must first jack, or lift the car up off the ground, and remove the front wheels and tires.remove any plastic shrouds that block you from the bottom of the car.then you will need a Tie rod separator they make different types. You remove the tie rods from the front spindles.Trying not to damage the rubber on the tie rod ends that is what holds the grease inside for lubrication.then, if you look at the power steering hoses. these should come directly from the pump.loosen both the pressure, and the return hoses and remove from the rack. you will need a fairly large oil drain pan to catch any leaks that may happen. If you look where the steering shaft comes from the passenger compartment down to the rack. it must be removed from the rack, Note; center the steering wheel before removal of the new rack. Then the rack should have some mounting fasteners holding it to the chassis. when you replace this part,The new rack does not come with the tie rod ends that you had removed earlier from the outer ends of this part at the wheels. the old ones will need to be removed from the old rack and reinstalled back on the new rack.NOTE; to get these tie rod ends fairly close back to the same location, after you break them loose, you count the number of turns to remove these from the old rack. this has to be done to be able to get the front wheels back in close alignment and remember this count. because you replace these on the new rack and the count that you had coming off is the number of turns to put these back on the new rack. and tighten these down good. This rack may have to come out the sideways, or it may have to be got out by removing something that may be blocking removal. just look real close and see if there is a clear area it can come out. When you Install this new rack and pinion you mount the rack and install the hoses refill your power steering pump with fresh fluid. and check for any leaks. and before you install the hoses replace the o rings if there is any to make sure you have a good seal at your connections. then hook up your steering shaft to the new rack and check to see if you are still in alignment( steering wheel)after you hook up the tie rod ends and the new rack is mounted securely. double check your fluid level in the pump.you should get all the air out of the system, by cranking the engine and turn the steering wheel right and left all the way to the lock. ( or the stop) until you dont hear anymore noise from the system. it may take driving a little while before the noise is gone completely . Keep checking your pump fluid level while you are bleeding the air out of the system. and also keep your eyes on the areas where the hoses that you removed and replaced for any leaks that may be a problem.also when you install any fluid lines, always start them with care. make sure not to cross thread these lines. start them with your fingers first. then you should have the car alignment checked at a alignment shop, or a tire store. this is to make sure you have no alignment issues. and for a few days keep your fluid level checked.
Creamy brown oil on dipstick,
From what you are explaining it seems to me you have a blown head gasket or a cracked head , that is the reason for the color of the oil you have water getting into your crank case ...
