Why do my brakes pump up after bleeding and still go to the floor when i start the truck?
Hello.
If the brakes pump up after you start your engine, it means your brakes are good and there are no bleeds.
They pump up as the car builds pressure inside the brake fluid circuit.
If the pedal loses pressure and hits the floor while the engine is on, this means that you may have brake fluid leaks and your brakes won t hold much longer (needs immediate fix).
Oil light comes on upon
You have a faulty oil sending unit. The oil sending unit senses how much oil pressure is in the car's engine, and when it is faulty, Will trigger the light. When you hit the brakes the oil in the engine will go forward/backward and that causes a fluctuation in the pressure, which causes the faulty oil sending switch to trigger the oil light. Replace the oil sending unit switch and you will be fine.
Where is transmission fluid dipstick
Yours probably does have one. Two type of transmissions are used, one is 45 one 65. I think it is the 65 that doesn't have a dip stick. To check fluid you have to lift the front. On the passenger side by the axle, there is a small 11 mm bolt. have the car running, remove the bolt, add fluid until it starts coming out of the hole.
Electrical problems 1997 cavalier
First make sure the battery is fully charged. Also make sure the belt on the alternator is not broken/missing. after you charge the battery, start the vehicle and put a voltage meter/multimeter on volts dc and apply the leads to the battery posts, you should see anywhere from 13-14.5 volts from the alternator if it is working. if not, check the fuse or fuses for the alternator. if the fuse is good, replace the alternator, and test the battery.
My convertible top don't operate can you help
I own a 1997 Cavalier, but it is not a convertible. I would definitely start with the fuses. Remember that all motors have to be protected by fuses from overloads. If you get lucky and it is the fuse, then do yourself a favor and lubricate the moving parts with some WD-40. If it is not the fuse, then there is a chance that it could be the motor. Hopefully it is the simple fuse. The motor could be tested on a bench top with a car battery before purchasing a new one. You need only provide 12 volts from the positive post of the battery and provide a connection of ground from the negative post of the battery. If of course the motor does not function, you will not be risking as much by first testing the motor before making a purchase. I would think that most part stores may offer to test the motor for you once it is dismounted from the vehicle. Good luck. Hope it is the fuse. One last thing to consider is to test the positive wire going to the motor to ensure that you have power going to the motor which would indicate a working fuse. Naturally you have to have a 12 volt test light to test the fuses and the power going to the positive on the motor.
