I have had trouble 2.. id say go with a 4l80..I don't know if it mounts up to motor but im betting it would cause some 3/4 trucks come w/ the 4l80...& motors are the same..

try checking fluid level constently and maby check the pressure my 2000 silverado did that but it was cuz i put a new trani in and one of the trani lines popped off the fitting so u gota make sure u have no leaks first off

yes you must take the steering wheel off, you will also need a puller to yank steering out of its splins there usualy on pretty snugg.
When i crank the truck theres a high pitch noise.

I would go to autoparts store one that has a OB11 reader pull the codes best to start with....otherwise youll just change parts..

When you get in running, check you fuel pump pressure, also check for the proper operation of the fuel pressure regulator.
While you're at it.....hook up a vacuum gauge to a manifold vacuum source and see what kind of reading you get.
Fast idle could possibly be a intake leak. Probably should expect to get a normal reading of between 15 & 20 inches of manifold vacuum.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Remove the instrument panel compartment.

Unfasten the forward-most screw in the right side door sill plate. Remove the trim panel from the right hinge pillar.

If necessary for access, unplug the ECM wiring and remove the ECM.

Unplug the electrical lead at the blower motor and if equipped, remove the underdash courtesy lamp.

Remove the bolt from the right side lower instrument panel support. Remove the blower cover and the cooling tube.

Unfasten the flange screws and pull out the blower motor. You may
have to pry back the right side of the instrument panel slightly. Be
careful!
To install:

Position the blower motor and install the mounting screws. Be careful not to catch the blower on anything when sliding it in.

Install the cooling tube and the blower shield.
-
Install the bolt into the instrument panel support.
-
Attach the courtesy lamp and the blower electrical lead.
-
If removed, install the ECM. Attach the wiring harness.
-
Install the trim panel on the pillar. Don't forget the screw in the sill plate!

Install the instrument panel compartment and connect the battery cable.
Rear
1992-98 Models(see Figure 4)

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Remove the right rear quarter panel trim.
-
Disconnect the electrical lead at the fan.
-
Remove the screws and if equipped, the cooling tube.

If necessary, remove the fan retaining nut and lift out the blower fan.

Remove the blower motor.
To install:
-
Install the blower motor and then position the fan.
-
Install the retaining nut and then tighten the mounting screws to 12 inch lbs. (2 Nm).

If removed, install the cooling tube.
-
Connect the electrical lead. Install the quarter panel trim cover.

Connect the battery cable.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak. When the engine is cold the leak is there but as the engine warms up the parts start to expand thus closing the gaps and sealing the leak. I had this problem on my personal vehicle and it turned out to be lower intake gaskets.
