1993 Chevrolet K1500 - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I recently bought a 1993 Chevrolet K1500. It had the factory radio in dash, but the cassette player and under dash amplifier were gone. I bought both of these from salvage. In doing so, I noticed a
Hello! The ALDL or On Board Diagnostic I (OBDI) connector is located under the dash on a 1993...And is different then the 94 you looked at...See diagram below...Is there a wire on "A" and "B"? "A" is a White/Black wire that changes to Black/White at the ALDL connector on pin "A"...and should read to ground..."B" is data and is Orange...These are the two wires that are shorted with a paper clip to get the trouble light to "blink" out a trouble code...I DO NOT see a connection between the fault that you have and the ALDL connector, Although the connector may be missing a wire (easily checked)...LETS SOLVE!!!The problem appears to be be a lack of a connection to the Yellow ignition wire which could appear White...It's the ACC ignition power to the radio...Just because the lights are on doesn't mean the radio itself has power from the ignition...Also The Orange ignition wire (hot at all times) maintains memory to the radio...The White? wire out out the back of the radio appears to be the ignition wire...If there is already a Yellow wire connected to the radio plug that has 12 volts on it when the key is turned to ACC let me know...Bottom line...Are there wires in both slots of the under dash ALDL connector??? And is there a splice into the Yellow ignition wire...SEND A COMMENT .saailer

wonder if its your neutral/safety switch ? just a thought, thinking outloud, automatic trans ? what about the (TV) cable, throttle valve cable, they need adjustment, controlsline pressure, its similiar to a vacuum modulator , maybe thats it, the modulator or its vacuum to it ! check all vacuum lines from intake manifold. hope this helps !

I am having problems with my '93 Chevy pickup
Theres lots of things that can cause this problem but try a couple of things like start the truck when its dark and see if you see any sparks any where because mayby a spark plug wire is off or worn through. Listen for a sucking sound because there could be a vacume leak. What I kinda think it is though is a clogged injector. If you could tell a difference when you changed the filter it could be that dirt got passed the filter and lodged in the injector...If it was me I would go ahead and replace the fuel pump. If I had to bet on it... I would bet its the fuel pump. If it ever set for a while theres a good chance the fuel turned bad and that trashes the pump. It could be a stopped up catalytic converter. Could have water in the gas. Also check the oil for signs of water ( foam or white residue) in case its got a blown head gasket or cracked head.
It might have jumped time. Let me know if nothing else i will tell you a quick way to check your timing chain.
Brakelights staying on
if you unplug the brake switch does the lights go out? if the lights go out then it sounds as though the switch is not adjusted properly.
