1990 Chevrolet Camaro - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
We replaced the engine on
the pressure regulator is not reporting to the ECM to energize the relay for the fuel pump
by having a direct power to the pump , eventually the fuel pressure will overcome the injectors and they will put out more fuel
I have a 1990 RS Camaro with the V6. Ran ok when
Have you ever had the car tuned up? Plugs, wires, distributor cap, throttle body cleaned, etc? A bad sensor may cause problems, but often when you get a sensor code (especially OBD I codes, as they are very basic), the sensor may be good and the problem is in the circuit between the sensor and the ECU, or some other problem that affects that sensor. If you found out you were running a fever because your thermometer (a sensor) said you have a temperature of 102, would you condemn and change the thermometer? Would that reduce your fever?
Throwing sensors and other parts at it just based on codes is not proper diagnostics. If you haven't availed yourself of a qualified mechanic trained on your type vehicle and its problems, you're throwing away your money.
90 camaro 3.1 V6 barely runs , I have replaced the Fuel pump Dist,S plugs and wires any suggestions?
Hello Johnny,
When you say barely runs..please elaborate. Does the vehicle start okay? idle poorly? run poorly under throttle? Please describe the symptoms of how your Camaro is barley running.
The first thing to do is check your instrument panel for a SERVICE ENGINE SOON light and then have the fault codes read at your local parts store...(some retail outlets provide this service free of charge.)
Fault codes will point you in the right direction. Add to your post for assistance... if required.
Car run hot and now just turns over but will not start
Not good. Car running hot could be your thermostat, radiator, or water pump going bad. You could even have a coolant leak. You may have warped a piston or you may just have to wait for it to cool down. If it does start again don't drive it and immediately find out what the overheating issue is
How to take out rear axle bearings in a 1990 camaro?
support rear of car, remove wheels and brake drums, put a drain pan under differential, remove diff cover, turn gears until you see the lock pin bolt, remove bolt and push the lock pin out. when you do this do NOT turn the differential. push the axle in and remove the C clip that locks the axle in place and pull out axle, repeat for other axle. remember DO NOT turn the differential with out the axles in place.

I was told it is not the timing chain
Hi Sandra,
your problem is that it could be alot of things without alot more info. It might be something as simple as cap or rotor, pick up coil, ect.
I was driving my car and it backfired, and has not cranked since. it turns over but will not start was told it could be a electronic probelm. what could it be.
It could be gas or spark (ignition system). To find out why it won't start, you have to start checking. Does your fuel pump turn on? Turn the key to on,. not start. There should be a buzz or hum from the gas tank that lasts about 2 or 3 seconds. That is the pump inside the tank and it will put pressure in the gas line and put gas up to the engine. The pump is electrical. If you do not hear it come on, you will need the fuel pump circuit tested to find the problem.
If you do hear the pump, then you need to check ignition system: check for spark on a spark plug wire. If you are not sure how, then get someone to help you who knows how, because you need two people anyway- one to watch for spark and one to be cranking the engine over with the key. If you do have spark, a strong blue spark, maybe the injector circuit needs checked. The fuel pump puts gas up to the engine, and the injectors put gas inside the engine.
If you don't have spark on any spark plug wire, then the ignition system is the problem. This is pretty complex and needs electrical testing to find the problem with it. Post back if you have questions. Good luck.
I have a 1990 chevy
check voltage at battery has to be 12 volts , turn lights on see if they work when u turn key, if not bad ground wire from battery or at frame, check volt gauge inside car see if it drops when u turn key, if so battery is likely problem.
