Remove 99 sunfire trunk lock
Open the trunk from the inside with a screw driver if you can get through the back seat. If you can't, and the key does not work, take a drill about 3/8" in size and drill out the center of the lock. Then take a screw driver and open the trunk. Go to the junk yard and get another lock and have a lock company make a key if needed.
AC blows cold air, fans stop blowing
I think you have a "variable speed resistor" problem, it's overheating. It's an electronic device usually located near or attached to the AC motor blower that controls the fan speed. This is a common problem with aging AC blowers with electronic controls.
Ok I have seen tons of posts about this issue with
First check the R/S headlight fuse in the dash fuse panel (left side), second make sure the R/S low beam headlight bulb filament isn't blown, both these scenarios will do what you are saying. The DRL's work when both low beam lights are in series, thus only 6v going to each bulb at reduced brilliance. The high beam is a totally separate circuit controlled by the multifunction switch. The DRL relay is controlled by the Body Control Module, grounded there, and it will also illuminate the service vehicle soon light. It could also be a bad ground at G204. Its on the steering column support bracket.
Check engine light
A check engine light could be illuminated for 100+ different reasons probably, can you describe more about any problems you might be experiencing along with that warning light? Knocking sounds, engine running rough, poor acceleration ect. Also, does the check engine light blink at any point in time? If your vehicle is in operable condition you can take your vehicle to certain part stores such as Autozone that offers free code scans to better diagnose warning codes.
Check engine light came on, why?
the check engine light is on to tell you that something serious has happened to the engine /gear box units. Check oil and coolant levels and the engine for overheating. Run fault codes as soon as you can as the cost now may be low but to ignore the light will result in a costly exercise.
2001 pontiac sunfire rusted frame
anything can be replaced. the only question is. is it worth spending the money to do it? thats for you to decide. make some calls and get some quotes for the job. then decide if its worth spending it on your current car (taking into account its current condition. and anything else you might have to do to it the next few years) or using it to buy a newer one
Reset service light for a 2001 sunfire
Take it to any O'Riley auto parts store and they will reset it in seconds. Or you can pull the battery cables off for 10-15 minutes and that should do it also.
Theft system
run fault codes to start with as the fuel system issues may be EGR/ PCV/ canister purge valve and solenoid related . I would think that if the immobiliser had a say in it then you would be stopped 2 years ago and not have had the problem for that length of time
