This cannot be answered with any detail because you did not bother to mention what engine your Stratus is equipped with. However, it basicly goes the same for ALL engines and ALL vehicles. Release or loosen the belt tensioner and remove the belt. Install new belt and check belt for proper tension.

Check your accessories fuse...

You need to get a fuel pressure test on your fuel manifold. Since you've done the electric parts it's time to check for weak gas pressure. It can give you a miss-fire at one or more cylinders. The test is fairly simple but can eliminate a whole system early in the process. Next after this is a compression check which is more difficult and involved.

Check some fuses or see if you are getting any kind of spark. Spark at the plugs or injectors.

Not sure if this will work but it did for me. My battery died on my old 01 stratus rt and when I put new battery in my alarm kept going off. So I disconnected battery, both cables and touched them together and reattached them and it worked. I would try that. I will look into bypassing it as I did this when I installed a new alarm system with remote start I just don't have my book in front of me.

After changing the thermostat, did you fill it with 50/50 antifreeze to water?

Is the radiator cap (not actually on the radiator) in good shape and seating properly?

If the answer is yes to all of the this, than I would try picking up some heavy duty flush from the local parts store and flush the system really well.

Most pistons have a mark on the top near one edge that should point to the front of the engine.

You open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery first, then the positive terminal. Remove the battery hold-down clamps. Swap with new battery.

FIRST: Bring your number one piston to top dead center, if you haven't already done so. NOTE: When you have lined everything up you will notice that the crankshaft alignment mark is just a little off, this is OK. The Camshaft marks on the sprockets or cut-out across the sprocket, there will be 2 cut-outs on each sprocket, you will need to line this cut-outs all the way across both sprockets with a straight edge, I always used a ruler. I am a self emplyed mechanic, if a motor cranks but does not start, that is not a starter, you need to see if you have gas or spark . is there a buzzing in the gas tank when you turn the key. if so then you have gas. now you needto see if you have spark. need 2 people to do this . pull a spark plug wire and stick a screw drive in the boot and crank the motor please stand back,and look for spark. if you have spark. then you need a crank position sensor thank you ted

DIY? You need a repair manual. You will want one next time, and just to learn more about your systems. I recommend a manual from your favorit Auto partsstore. You may be able to find one on filepeep.com or manualslib.com

the exhaust leak shouldnt keep it from running. if it dies when u unhook the jumper cables thats probly caused by a bad alternator or battery. if it is a 2.7 engine, the internal parts of the engine often fail and the knock u hear is a connecting rod. this is usually accompanied by very low oil pressure, is the oil warning light on when its running? if so you may need a new engine. a cracked or loose flywheel can also cause a knock. repair cost is hard to say until the problem is found.

Not sure what pressure valve your talking about a picture would sure help im thinking it could be the water pump or thermostat if it's what the heater hose connects to on the engine it's the water pump and needs changing Id Google the " Valve" in question or utube and see what the proper name for said valve is and then you will have info needed to make repair!! Im sure others have had similar problem?

I have been dealing with the same issue. When was the last time you changed your O2 sensors? Which O2 sensor and which bank is it that is flagging your engine light? Are you sure the reading is an O2 sensor misfire, or is it reading O2 error and a misfire? I would start by looking at your pipes for the O2 reading. You need to check your pipes, make sure that they are all tight and secure. If in fact they are, you have no holes or leaks in the piping, then you need to have your Catalytic Converter tested. The misfire can be a defective spark plug, a bad ignition coil pack or maybe a sensor got bumped and isn't connected completely...?

(1) The coolant level in the radiator could be low and not allowing enough coolant into the heater core. So first thing for you to do is check the coolant level. (2) A door issue inside the A/C housing can also cause this problem, if one of the doors is stuck open or broken or a cable problem or a door actuator problem can cause this. (3) The most common problem that I find is a clogged heater core. When the heater core gets clogged then the coolant coming into the core only fills enough of the core to fill hot with the low speed fan, but when you turn it to high it feels cold. (4) The other problem I have found is the Thermostat STUCK OPEN, what this does is it will not allow the coolant to get hot, and it feels colder as you drive down the road.
