Replace power steering belt
You should have a serpentine belt (one continuous multi-grooved belt) on that model in which case the easiest way is to get (or borrow) the special tool (a long bar with a place to install a socket) to back the tensioner off enough to slip the belt off one of the pulleys. Install in the reverse order using the wrench back the tensioner pulley back enough to get the belt over the last pulley then release the tensioner - it will automatically provide the proper tension. If it a single V-belt then look for a bolt or bolts you can loosen and slide the power steering pump toward the motor and remove the old belt then install the new one, carefully pry the pump back into place and tighten the bolt(s). This should work on most vehicles.

Have a 1991 dodge dakota, have replaced everything , still cant get brakes to work.
How about the rubber flex hoses restricted
In the rear you have an abs hcu you can throw way
& bypass, then unplug the controller up under the dash
on the passenger side
Also the rear brake cables won't work for rust, they have to go also
I had a 1992 Dakota for 18 years
Leave the wire off the proportioning valve as the vehicle is wired wrong & if your bleeding it ,it will melt down the wires in the ignition switch (been there) Vehicle is not the same as the factory wiring diagrams

Why and how to fix the probloem
Sounds like the electical portion of the ignition may have gone bad. You could also just double check for any exposed wires either in the column, or around your feet, where something may have gotten kicked by accident.

1991 Dodge Dakota electrical problem I have
When you replaced the alternator, did you also replace the voltage regulator? I have read that on this truck, the voltage regulator is internal to the ECU and is located on the firewall near the ignition coil. You may be able to install a separate, dedicated voltage regulator available at your local auto parts store. Please note that you may have to rewire from the ECU connector to the stand-alone voltage regulator. Good luck.

I drive my truck it shuts down it start up after
Most likely a plugged fuel filter, likely due to a bit of water in the fuel tank.
Ethanol-added gasoline actually sucks water out of the air into the fuel.
As you drive, the water molecules actually start to plug the filter, and starve the truck out and it dies. As it sits, the water falls off the filter material and it will start and run again until it simply does the same thing again.
A simple $10 fixya!
(throw a couple of bottles of "Fuel Dryer" into the tank, too. WalMart cheap stuff works as well as any of the others. It is actually just ethanol, too - but the extra amount of it helps emulsify any reamining water in the tank and allows it to pass through the (new, fresh) fuel filter)

I try to turn on my heater but nothing comes out.
there is a motor regulator on the rear on the heater unit on the back that will probably need replacing. not had much to do with dodge but should be able to remove it by hand. put hand up back of heater till you find a metal vent with a wire plug on the end. un plug it and pull out. bit harder to put new one in.
