Hi Maurice, Check the wiring for damage. if the vehicle you are referring to has an electronic speedo a defective sender unit or cables could cause the problem. If it has a cable drive make sure the cable is not damaged. Check the wiring from the reservoir and make sure that the float inside the reservoir is free and not stuck. It would help us to know more about the vehicle? year of manufacture, type and model of vehicle? Engines need three things to run. Air, Fuel, and Spark. If you can verify the air cleaner is clear, and fuel is available at the carb, then the ignition timing must be the issue. Check to see if the distributor, and cap that you installed, are still tight. Check for spark by removing one spark plug boot, insert one of your old spark plugs, and have someone crank the engine for you to see if you have spark. Air, Fuel, and Spark, its one of this three.
