take interior door panel off then you might have to roll window up or down to get to bolts in handle there is a plastic plug in door to get to one bolt in handle

you could always pick up a sumit catalog or goto there webs site and order an exhaust system,they are easy to put together and fun.its cheeper than going to a shop saves you the labor charges

check flywheel teeth not worn out destroying starter and check to see if you have shims that come with new starter are installed properly if you received some with the new starter
How do you change a heater core on a 1983 chevy
Inspect/Replace

When a heater core leaks, a new heater core is installed or the old one repaired.
Heater Housing
- The heater housing is usually under the dash and must be removed to gain access to the heater core.
- Procedures for replacing the heater core vary with the year, make, and model of car. It threfore necessary to consult the manufacturer's repair manuals for the proper procedure for replacement.
The heater housing is disassembled to get to the heater core.
Heater Core
- Remove the access panels(s) or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain acess to the heater core.
- Remove the heater coolant hoses.
- Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped).
- Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps.
- Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of the heater core when removing.
- To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps.

It should be the 700 r4 transmission with the 350 block,
unless someone changed it out, it could be a turbo 350, if the truck is a 3/4 ton.

there is a known problem with the circuit board the bulbs sit in ..most parts stores sell them in the "help" section or "dorman products" section if you want to check it properly you will need a test light and a friend...first thing you must attach the test light end to a good ground source put the other end in to the electricle connector one wire at a time of the brake switch push the pedal if it illuminates on a wire only when the pedal is pushed it is getting powered up and functioning next go to the back of the truck and do the same with the tail light ..use your friend to push the pedal and test for power present in a wire only when the pedal is pushed if that is there then the power is getting to the tailight next you must check for ground so put the test light end on power you might need a piece of wire to extend to the back ..be carefull probe the plug if the test light illuminates there is a good ground there and you need to change the board

If you installed a same alternator amperes then It's time to get a higher one. The old one may not be suitable for your electrical needs which can cause the ampere drop down. I strongly suggest that you add another body ground from the battery to the chassis. This can sort things out.
A faulty relays can cause the ampere of the alternator drops down too so please do check it.
