have code read while light is on. some parts stores will read code for you. get code then post dtc #
Uncontrolled increase of rpms during start
It could be a number of things but I would start by using a diagnostic device in order to determine exactly what the vehicles ECU has to report.
Based on your description I would look at the throttle position sensor.
Irregular revving of the engine could be pin pointed to the idle control valve, but only if the revving is relatively small.
If it seems like someone has their foot on the accelerator, and has it planted firmly to the floor, then I would definitely be looking at the idle throttle position sensor.
Some vehicles also use a fly by wire system where the accelerator cable goes to a throttle position sensor that isn't even near the engine.
It can be located under the battery tray sometimes and can be quite easy to get to.
These types of sensors are relatively cheap to replace but are quite common in their failure rate.
All being said, I would definitely recommend you use a diagnostic device first.
It will not only save you time, it will also narrow down the fault more precisely.

Would like to download owner's manual as offered
Most manuals on the net contain viruses or are dangerous to your computer, I suggest getting a repair manual from your local autoparts store or a maintence manual from the dealer so you can have a good reference with pictures and diagrams.
Car was running fine. Then just didn't start. No response to key whatever except system lights all flash on like upon startup.
The most common cause of a non-starting car is the battery. It is either weak, (low voltage) dead, (zero voltage) or has bad connections. (corroded or loose) I will assume you have a fully charged battery with good connections. (both to battery and starter relay)
If you remove the starter switch lead (small wire) from the starter relay and apply +12v from the battery to its respective prong or lead on the relay, and your starter cranks, your starter switch is faulty. (not to be confused with your key switch). If you jump the two large wires together on the relay and it cranks, then the relay is faulty. If you jump the two large wires together and nothing happens, then starter is faulty, or wires to starter are loose or broken. Picture of starter switch prong on the relay is pictured. NOTE: sparks are to be expected, so don't be too scared. Pictured is a starter relay that is seperate of the starter, on models with starter and relay mounted together, its very similar.
If you car has an immoboliser system, it may be faulty.
Bypass security
The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.
