1998 GMC Sonoma. How to fix wiring to a tail light on it please?

Fixing the wiring to a tail light on a 1998 GMC Sonoma typically involves a few steps. Here's a general guide on how to fix the wiring:

Check the Bulb: Start by checking the bulb. If the bulb is burnt out, replace it with a new one. If it's still not working, move to the next step.

Check the Fuse: Check the fuse for the tail lights in the fuse box under the hood or in the cab. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new one of the same amperage.

Inspect the Wiring: Inspect the wiring between the tail light and the fuse box for any damage or breaks. If there's damage, you may need to replace the wiring.

Test the Circuit: Use a test light or a multimeter to test the circuit. Start by connecting the test light or multimeter to the positive wire (usually red) and then touch the negative wire (usually black). If the test light illuminates or the multimeter shows a reading, the circuit is working.

Check the Ground: Check the ground wire (usually black) for any damage or breaks. If there's damage, you may need to replace the ground wire.

Fix the Wiring: If you find any damaged or broken wiring, repair it using wire connectors or electrical tape.

Reassemble: Once the wiring is fixed, reassemble everything and test the tail lights.

If you're not comfortable working with wiring or if the issue is not resolved after these steps, it's best to take the vehicle to a qualified mechanic or electrician for further diagnosis and repair.

I have a 1998 GMC sonoma that wont start. we have

Let's say that the battery and it's cables are good and charged and tight. and clean. You walk up and unlock the car and get in and close the door ( is the security light on? ) if it is can you put in the key and turn it on and does the security light go out? If it does'nt then you'll need to reset the security system. The GM way. With the doors all closed and the driver window down, reach in and turn the key to start and let go. the security light will be on steady, between 10 and 15 minutes it'll be out. Turn the key off and turn it back on and the security light will be back on, agian wait till it goes out. Again after it's out turn it off and wait a sec. and turn it back on, the light will come back on. again wait till it goes back out. this time ( the third time ) turn the key off wait a sec and then turn it to start and if everythings alright it'll start right up or crank OK and you'll have to finde another problem but the security system is'nt going to be it. If you battery is'nt good enough to do this you need a new battery anyway and your going to have all kinds of troble till you chcnge it.

If you have a check engine light, that means there's a trouble code stored. Get the code read and that should give you an indication of where to start

Need to replace the wiring for a 1998 sonoma on battery need to replace the three long wires

Why would the wires need replacing. You can avoid a lot of extra work by just replacing the battery clamps (terminals). Just make sure the polarity is correct (Red is +, Black is negative ) Always connect the negative wire to the battery post last to prevent arcing. Wear safety glasses when working with batteries as an explosion hazard is present. Use conductive grease on battery post to prevent corrosion.

How to fix vats on 98 sonoma

What's wrong with it , have you had it checked for DTC'S - diagnostice trouble codes . The design of the passlock™ system is to prevent the vehicle operation if the proper ignition key is not used in order to start the vehicle. The mechanical key, in normal operation, will turn the passlock™ lock cylinder. The passlock™ sensor will relay the passlock™ data to the body control module (BCM). The BCM will determine the validity of the passlock™ data. The BCM will send a code password to the vehicle/powertrain control module (VCM/PCM). When the VCM/PCM receives the correct code the VCM/PCM allows the fuel injectors to operate normally. The passlock™ system requires the VCM/PCM and the BCM to communicate the various functions in order to operate. These functions transmit over the class 2 serial data line CKT 1807. For an explanation of the class 2 serial data operation refer to Data Link Connector Circuit Description in Wiring Systems. I have a 98 sonoma with the transmission out and now engine will not start

The transmission sensors are tied in with the ignition system. If something detrimental to the vehicle is happening in the transmission it will shut you out of starting it. You will have to have this checked out by a pro.

My Sonoma will just stop running while I am driving it. Doesn't seem to be related if it is going up a hill, going fast or slow. If I turn the ignition off and then turn it back on it starts right up,

contact your GM dealer as there is a recall out on all GM products that covers the past 12 years for a problem ignition switch it doesn't matter if it is new or second hand All GM vehicle cars now being made have no hole in the key for a key ring as a result of the recall

I have a grainding sound metal to metal ... I've replaced disk pads and drum pads... still have a grinding sound when I'm driving in foward...

IT is caused from, Excessively worn friction material or improperly aligned backing plate//or pad shim. You said that the pads have been changed, so maybe the shim for the pad is at fault. Hope this helps! God-Bless! clean the shim mounting and that may work.
