1997 GMC K1500 steering get hard and suddenly get
i've seen the shaft in the pump broken off at an angle that would sometimes grab and provide assist and sometimes not. do you get a whining sound from the pump?? is the fluid smooth and consistant not all foamy like.. does it do it while cornering or driving straight
1993 GMC SLE...no taillights...all other lights work
taillight circuit board most likly corroded. remove t light undue two screws that hold board to light. unplug wiring harness . pull bulbs out and inspect sockets,, sometimes you can solder a small wire to rejoin the corroded area . but aftermarket boards are available for about 30 bucks...auto wreckers can also sell used lights n boards

ok ran great before changes. right. you say unpluged computor to set timing.. yes.. do you mean the plug on the firewall passenger side that looks like a fuse holder kindof..?? (set timing connector ) (tan /blk wire)
did it run good during timing proceedure??? wont be MAP that is engine vacume has nothing to do with what you have replaced.
proceedure is to set timing . shut off engine , plug in.. then restart.
yes timing moves as per ECM specs. check that timing did no get out one tooth when you replaced distributor. retime . restart

Check to make sure oil pressure switch is not sticking or gummed up and connections are tight. Your oil pressure switch is also a safety feature that will shut down fuel pump in case you're in an accident and/or rollover.
I have been told there
The plug is on the bottom of the cat which is located after the manifold on a stock chevy...open it and blow the metal out of the cat and then put the plug back on. Looks like you have a catalytic converter but now you will not! Thats ok because your vehical will run better because it can breath and it will increase your mpg. ....gearhead 91 k1500

The radio must have a dead short in it somewhere. This can happen over years of service and many bumbs in the road, something in the radio most likely is shorting out due to a loose connection either inside or on the back where it plugs in. try removing the radio and making sure all the plugs are in tight.
