Electrical problem 89 gmc pickup
You could always run a fused wire from the fuse panel to the relay. This way when you turn the key, power goes to the accessory on the fuse panel, the fused wire you installed, and to the relay circumventing the problem and creating a protected circuit.

How to replace the thermostat on a 1989 GMC Sierra
Drain the coolant (left lower side of the radiator) Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine, at the end of the hose is a metal housing, held down with 2 bolts, or 1 bolt and 1 stud. There may be wires going to one of the bolts, be sure these go back on. After taking the 2 bolts out, lift up the housing and the thermostat will be right there. Clean the old gasket from the manifold and the water outlet housing. Now install the thermostat, then the gasket. and torque down the bolts evenly. about 25-30 ft pounds. fill the radiator until about 2 inches below the filler neck, and start the engine, now keep putting coolant in to keep it 2 inches below the radiator neck, and let it warm up until you see coolant moving in the radiator, now fill it to the top and fill the coolant bottle to the cold mark. Its a good time to replace the radiator cap also. Good Luck.

Wiring problem from the fuel pump relay on the
The ignition switch could be the culprit. It's located on the lower half of the column, on top of it. Remove the plug, the two screws that hold it on, and lift it off the actuator rod that runs up to the key cylinder. It's about $30.00 new and takes about 10 minutes.
Or you could bypass the problem.
ANTIFREEZE DISAPPEARING - NO VISIBLE LEAKS
HI. This issue has many causes. i will list the most common causes below.
Coolant consumption::: Possible causes______
1. Check the head gaskets. The gasket may be leaking.
2. Check The Intake Manifold Gasket. This gasket may be leaking, worn, or damaged
3. Check the cylinder head for worn or scorn cylinder block.(This will require total breakdown of the engine)
4. Check the water pump seal for leaks as well.
Now that we have covered the basic check points for coolant consumption, i would advise to concentrate on the head gaskets if there are no apparent leaks on or around the engine itself. If the head gaskets are worn, the leak can be introduced to the engine internally, causing the engine to burn off the coolant. this is noticeable by removing the oil cap, after a hard drive. you Will notice steam that will escape the head as soon as you remove the cap. If this is the case, your problem will be with a failed head gasket.
IN a severe case, you will notice white plums of smoke escaping from the tail pipe during acceleration.
Black smoke runs badly, fuel pressure regulator or temp sensor?
look for a vacuum leak. A large vacuum leak will do just what you described. I would listen for a leak first if you cant hear it and locate it then i would spray carb cleaner around the vacuum lines. If you have a leak it will pull the carb cleaner in and you will hear the engine rpm change.
