How do i replace the right side power window switch

You need to take off door pull. then unsnap door panel unscrew lock knob. Then slowly raise door panel unhooking it from handle that will still be sticking through. As soon as you have it unhooked from handle you should be able to tip it away far enough to get to switch on inside of panel. There should be harness clip to unplug from switch then unclip the switch. Not to hard just time consuming. Good luck

1989 GMC SIERRA BRAKE LIGHT IN DASH STAYS ON

Check your emergency brake. Make sure it isn't partially pressed in. Try unplugging the switch to the emergency brake and see if the light goes out; if it does the switch is bad.

My 1989 gmc c 2500 panel cluster started smoking

You have a serious short circuit in the instrument panel and if the fuse did not blow and if you didn't switch of the motor your car could have caught fire. You need an auto electrician to fix this problem. You maybe able to trace down the short circuit by looking for burnt electrical wiring etc. but you also need a wiring diagram to trace the wiring to replace the the damages wiring and any components.

Clutch releasing at different positions each time any suggestion on how to fix

Your master connected to the pedal is bleeding down and letting the pressure to run the slave (the part that actually runs the clutch) catch at different places on the master. Replace the master.

Put batt. in backwards by accident, replaced alt. and alt. hot wire as they were burnt up. but wont start, motor turns over but wont crank. could it have burnt up solenoid

check ignition module, you may have fried it, if motor turns over the solenoid is o.k. -- your probably not getting any fire to the plugs, check to see if you are getting any spark at plugs

What could it be? a humming sound from behind the glove compartment

You are most likely correct in your assumption ,but best advice i can offer is if it works ok then leave well alone and dont interfere ,could be the AC gas de-pressurising as well just ignore it
