sound like idle speed control problems, if you see check engine flashing code scan for faulty idle air control valve or faulty egr valve which sticking open, if all is good check see if you vacuum leak at pcv valve or pcv valve hose check see if pcv getting vacuum and see if pcv valve rattle if shaken if not pcv valve faulty.

Check for spark at the plug ( may have coil problem).If spark is good then do a compression check. Pressure shouldn't be less than 75% of known good cylinders.
