My wife drives a 2003 GMC Envoy and has been complaining about this same creaking noise upon breaking or going over speed humps. I researched this topic on the internet high and low and tried everything I read to no avail. I was about to give up and then realized it could be the motor mounts since when you break or go over bumps the engine does have some movement. Sprayed the most interesting looking motor mounts I've ever seen with silicone spray and the noise was gone! My wife has been complaining for years about this noise and now looking back what a simple solution!. By the way my motor mounts where not worn out, the rubber portion of the mount just needed a little lube.

Where do i find and repair the oxygen sensors on 2003 gmc envoy
95% of all Oxygen Sensors are in two placesThe Front or Upstream Sensors, the ones that do all the work, reporting oxygen in the exhaust converter, are in the converterinlet & if not, in the pipe just before itSome Foreign Vehicles have them next to the motor but in theexhaust manifoldYou also have Rear or Downstream Sensors called Monitorsthey are in the converter outletThe front ones get replaced at 100,000 miles in my worldor before, if they failThe rear monitor do not get changed ,as they do not do mucheg: they do not constantly switch voltage, as they only look at converter efficiency, the converter should last 12 to 14 yearsIf it does not, then the car has been running with all sorts ofproblems for years90% of all sensors use a 22mm or 15/16" wrench or a similarO2 Socket/WrenchJust because you have a code does not mean you change partsNo Codes tell you what is wrongNo Codes tell you to change somethingI'm guessing after 9 years or more you could meet my100,000 mile rule & change the front 2 if you have 2You won't have the test equip & experience to scope them& watch Voltage or Switching times or Scan Tool Data & Fuel Trim &all that stuffYou go to Rock Auto.Com & buy the best parts avail & cheaperthan the auto parts store even with the shippingGet NGK/NTK or BoschThey may have a different color plastic wire connectormore wire than the OE onesJust loop the wire & wire tiePlastic wire ties are at Wal Mart & Home Depot
