My volkswagen golf v6 Automatic
I am a VW pro! Do you mean it wont change gears? A lot of VW's are having this same problem. One of three things could be the cause. Sensor on trans, trans control module, or the valve body in the transmission. When VW first made these cars, the transmission fluid was "suppose" to be lifetime fluid. These transmissions are sealed and have no dipstick. There is however a red plug right bellow the starter. You can open that cap and remove the plug under it. "Pull straight up while giving a slight turn". If you have a "clean" clear tube from maybe a fish air pump, you can slide that down the tube and pull it back out. you can smell it to see if it is burnt. The fluid is actually a type of mineral oil and CAN NOT BE MIXED with any other type of fluid! If the fluid is black, it will need replaced! The fluid should be changed every 50,000 miles part number G052162A2. Odds are, you will need to change the valve body inside the transmission
