I just bought a 2003 Pontiac Grand AM GT and it came with one key for ignition and keyless fob but I noticed that the key doesn't open doors/trunk, is there a separately key?

From the 2003 manual...

"One key is used for the
ignition and all locks."

So likely the ignition lock was replaced. You will need to go to a GM dealer and have a key made from the VIN. Take proof of ownership (title). Fortunately it is not a transponder key so no programming $$ required.

Ball joint nocking or strut tower

CV joint, the strut does not make a knocking sound unless its totally
shoot and the car is bouncing to its high and low limit.

If you push down on the car and it bounces a little then the strut is shoot.

The cv joint will knock if it is bad when you turn the wheel, when it gets real bad,it will knock when driving in a straight line.

Not shifting above 2RPM's

I dont know a thing about cars..so could you fill me in about what is going on? Thanks :) ????? Your vehicle transmission is electronically controlled by a computer , without hooking up a factory or professional scanner an checking sensor data parameters to the PCM - powertrain control module ( computer ) an codes ,we'd only be guessing . Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop an have it diagnosed .

I have a 2003 grand

Test the connector to see if it has power with a multi-meter. Corrosion plays a big factor. But considering it is a 2003 I'd probably say it is the motor considering you changed the fuse.

Power windows all stopped working

Maybe a broke wire inside the rubber boot from the body to the door ! See this a lot. Opening an closing the door a million times . Do you have a volt meter ? Pull the switch from the door an test for B+ voltage on the brown wire at pin G connector 1 The other window switches get B+ from the drive door switch . Also check the ground , black wire pin B connector 1 . Do you know how to use a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? Videos on youtube .

Sounds like your key is no longer actuating the starter/not matched to the vehicle key code, if you can turn it on but no cranking action is done when trying to start.

We replaced the battery and alternator in our 2003

Hey DaisyMae I do not believe its the ignition switch. Sounds more like the battery is not making really good connections or its a bad battery. Take the battery and have the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) checked.(the true measure of the quality of a battery).. Home Page Reilly Auto Parts These people can check it. If the battery checks good, make sure the battery connections are clean and TIGHT.. NOW - ..IF the same clicking still happens, time to check the starter solenoid and starter, -(make sure their connections are tight) ... the solenoid is located on the starter. IF ya'll are mechanically inclined you can remove the starter/solenoid and it's back to O'Reilly's for a check... Your problem is 99.99% one of these items. (disconnect the battery when removing the starter).. Please rate as helpful ..if this helps..thanks and good luck.

03 grand am powers up "lights, radio, etc.turn the key nothing

Why would you do 10 minute key trick ? Is the SECURITY light on steady ? Just a code reader ? Checks just Engine PCM codes ! Need a professional type scan tool to check codes in the BCM - body control module ! Don't know what and how much you know about these GM vehicles ? The ignition switch is a low voltage input to the BCM ! To determine power mode , off ,ACC , run , crank On vehicles that have several control modules connected by serial data circuits, one module is the Power Mode Master, PMM. On this vehicle the PMM is the BCM. The PMM receives 3 discreet ignition switch signals to differentiate which power mode will be sent over the Class 2 Serial Data circuit. To determine the correct power mode the PMM uses the following circuits: • Ignition 0 • Ignition 1 voltage • Ignition 3 voltage Discrete Ignition Signals Those modules that have discrete ignition signal inputs also remain in the state dictated by the last valid PMM message received on the serial data circuits. They then check the state of their discrete ignition input to determine the current valid state. If the discrete ignition input is active, battery positive voltage, the modules will fail-safe to the RUN power mode. If the discrete ignition input is not active, open or 0 voltage, the modules will fail-safe to OFF-AWAKE. In this state the modules are constantly checking for a change status message on the serial data circuits and can respond to both local inputs and serial data inputs from other modules on the vehicle . If you don't know anything about this your best bet , take it to a GM dealer . Without knowing what state the BCM is in or seeing from the ignition switch or if DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored , can't give you any sound advice . Would only be guessing !

Can a faulty ignition switch ALONE cause 0 fuel pressure when cranking?

If you have 100,000 miles or close to it you needed or would need a fuel pump anyway.Your mechanic sounds like a knowledgeable skilled honest one, he didn't even charge you for some items. Stick with him/her as you both will get all the problems solved. The work he has done is smart logical work so far. Next time it does not start right away, keep cranking the engine to get the oil pressure up.If it starts when the oil pressure builds it may be you are not getting a prime cycle when you first turn on the key some times.
